If you don't buy the N75 for piece of mind, fork out the VCDS so you can tell for yourself when it more than likely comes back. If you are going to do it yourself for the N75 and remove the airbox housing, you really do have to be spot on when fitting it back. Once you see the seals on the MAF housings you willl know what I am on about.

I actually ignored instructions and put a really really fine layer of Castrol grease around the inlets to help make the seals go back down nice and flush while I concentrated on reseating it level throughout the refit and it worked for me.

Now that the car was serviced today I will have to remember what to go log and go check the levels again to see if I need to redo them myself.

The oil will cause the rubber seals to perish faster. You should have used soapy water, or, as I do, spit.

You'd be bonkers not to replace the N75 since you're getting overboost problems. It's only about £40 or something and it's an hour to change it. All the information you need on how to change it is in the FAQ (check the spark plug tutorial for getting the airbox off).

Yep and thanks, didn't occur to me at the time but when I last checked them they were ok. I didn't have enough spit to get the job done to my satisfaction at the time and didn't like the idea of water going in to there tbh (also it was a windy day when I last did it so would have dried off as quickly as I was making it damp, but I could have gone and left the filter housing open for a while after to allow any evaporation to happen.

I have a feeling I will be taking the airbox off soon as she isn't quite at peak power since the servicing yesterday and will clean anything if they didn't already.

Thanks both - I will order the part from Audi. Dont suppose we get a group discount.

If this is a known weak point - especially when getting a remap - might be a point for others to note to automatically get it replaced as part of the upgrade????

I would class it as a preventative maintenance item. As well as the DVs.

I will order the part on Monday and plan to sort over the week.

I personally think for the nominal cost of replacing the items that were mentioned, we are future proofing against known issues that will probably arise. :biggrin3:

Bam - you better believe it.. :FIREdevil:

Realistically - what range of car can the RS6 compete against?

Its an interesting one...the cars seem to attract f*ds who think they can keep up in their 3l diesels!!

Some of the 5 series probably could, too.

Yep, some of the recent 5 series diesels bloody stonk along. I went up against a very quick one a few months ago.
