It all comes down to open, semi, closed deck. Only certain years had semi closed, only certain revisions had closed deck and the 2.2CDB was only Legacy as far as I remember. The problem is my noggin. If I don't have a need to remember certain knowledge then I quickly forget it to make room for more. I am finding this with my Impreza knowledge to an extent now but am trawling various forums. I think I will be getting it lined this time regardless.

I'm sure you'll have great fun in the Scooby. I have always had a soft spot for them, but I'd only want to own a P1.

I actually looked online to see if some of my old cars are still around but according to the DVLA my Metro and Clio have gone to the bit scrap heap in the sky.

Shush, my mini Metro was great for doing Dukes of Hazzard-style jumps off humpback bridges and tearing wheels off from flying over roundabouts instead of around them....

Just drove her back from TFS and the big end noises are now there at idle too, there goes my chances of driving her to Newbury methinks.....

Meh, the engine is scrap anyway. Run it into the ground... Then AA for the last bit of the journey, if necessary. Image

I am lazy and cba to sit and wait around for a man in a van to suck his teeth when he turns up, then wait again while a towmobile is called possibly. I went across the road and waved some cash at one of the pikeys with a flatbed and he liked the idea of dropping her off when I decide to do it.... Vee shall see.

I'm with you there footers,

I had an mg metro, none of the locks worked on the car, and I had a mega system in it! Loved going over jumps in that, ragged the arse out of it.

What site do I go on to see if it hasn't been crushed yet? KMJ 8Y was the reg, can't believe I can remember it, that'd over 20 years ago.

Swanny, I forgot to say that the guys are going to be dropping the front/rear seats to Unit 20 at some point tomorrow to put in your boot, all got arranged last night. Should I contact Grizz to warn him?

Right, despite the rain I started attacking the first of the many, many other problems with the car.

I had fitted a lovely, expensive Defi Link electronic gauge system with programmable warning limits, recording capabilities etc but IDIOT or one of his ham-fisted mechanic friends had managed to tear out the control system from the glovebox and all the gauges were now erroring, as well as the boost reading a constant 1 bar even when the car was off... They had done this as they were too stupid to reprogram the alarm limits every time that that they disconnected the battery, so when they stuck her on ignition or turned her on, the system was beeping and flashing at them constantly as all the upper alarm limits were set back to zero values..

I found that the oil temp sender socket looked off on the control system so took it apart. They had managed to tear out the socket from the PCB, tear out a pin and when pushing it back in, pushed the other pin right back. Gently straightened the still connected pin, fashioned up a new pin and soldered it in place. Passed them through the socket, connected up the sender and voila. found and fixed the crushed cable going to the oil pressure sender.

IDIOT had unbolted the electronic boost sensor and stuck it down the back of the suspension mount area, which usually gets nice and wet. disconnect the vacuum hose and found that the gauge was still at a constant 1 bar, shocker. unplugged the sender and the gauge carried out its checks, returned to normal position then informed me that the sender was disconnected. This confirmed that water ingress has killed that. Ordering a new sender at £115 later on today...... Apart from that, reconnected everything in to the controller, fired them up and all the gauges did their sweeps, carried out their checks and reported ok across the board (apart from that sender of course). Just as well as I would have been looking at the wrong side of about £700 to replace that lot!

Weather has stopped me for the day but I am going to try to get the head unit out in a bit and fix that touchscreen next.

Once again, I love you guys. Yes, in that way.....

I had the entire centre console of Fluffy out in sub 3 minutes today (it helped that IDIOT had smashed out a couple of the clamping points leaving the screws still in but I already have replacement trim en route). Couldn't get the nasty POS ripspeed gearknob off. No screws, doesn't split apart, just spins and spins around. I then noticed to my horror that it wasn't 6 little cheesy looking jewels in the top of the gearknob but there are a hidden button under the R logo that turned the gearknob in to a mobile multi-coloured LED disco! :smile_smoking: That 40 year old bloke lived on some f*cked up other plain I swear to god.

Going to either take a dremel to that bitch which will take a fair while to cut through or will just buy another gearstick assembly. Got the head unit out and that is currently sitting in a million pieces. He spilt god knows what down the screen and this got in to the touchscreen contacts and has rotted them through in 1 key place where the touchscreen layer is sandwiched on to the corners of the glass panel. Have separated out a couple of mil of the sandwich and reclaimed one of my immunobooster hypodermics from the sharps bin. I have put the panel on top of the hot water tank overnight but am going to try to inject some silver conductive paint in to the rotted contacts sandwich and see if that holds. I have my doubts but a new panel is $160 + delivery + duties etc so hey, what the hell.

It's still on the DVLA site, but date of liability was 1997 so not a good sign.
