Maybe it's just me then but mine are around that but only around 1cm of thread mating per bolt seems a little scary when you factor in the weight and how sideways I like to go wherever possible ;). Still haven't got around to checking it yet but will try tomorrow as will only take 2 secs.

If there are 6 turns then that's about 10mm. If that's what it is, that's what it is. I'm not going to second guess Audi - I presume they have anorak engineers to do finite element analysis on that kind of thing.

Looking at the pic I tokk I am near as damnit on 6-7 turns so will leave it at that. What torque are you putting on yours? I am doing about 110ftlbs (not 110+quarter turn etc) which seems too little feel-wise when bolting them up but I am always one for doing things up MAN-TIGHT :D

Did you mean Nm? They should be torqued to 120Nm, but I do them to 130 because 120 doesn't 'feel' enough.

Nope, ftlbs. I was hearing that people tightened them to 140NM (MRC on this car for instance when they were fitted) but that felt too little to me. The only torque wench I have capable of going to 140NM, reads in ftlbs. 103 ftlbs is about 140NM I believe. I am doing 110 as I don't feel safer at anything lower than that. Hell, I would have them on a lot tighter if it was me but I am working roughly to what others were using.

Broken too many bolts that way. Starts to cost a lot of money. Last thing I broke by overtightening because it didn't feel enough was the camshaft on my golf. Doh!

I've never used a torque wrench on my wheel nuts. I just use me and my knuckle bar

All depends on how much of a man you are, I suppose. ;) I need the torque wrench to avoid twisting the bolts into spirals. :assflash:

I am looking forward to seeing if Shopp is 6'7" like me but just so happens to be built like a brick sh!thouse or is a tall & gangly fella ;). Had my fair share of sheared bolts in the past from going MAN-TIGHT, luckily never on a wheel. :)

I have. I'd hate to know how much torque I put on the conical bolts for my wheels. When releasing they have a tendancy to crack into first movement. I think it's time I get a torque wrench.
No matter where you go, there you are.

So as not to poo on the TV thread, how about one of these:

and one of these (might work ok with the diversity system):

Confused, I linked you to thAT DAB unit in some thread a while back but thanks ;) I have looked at that splitter before and am keeping it in mind but I would want absolute max signal strenght so vee shall see. Can't make my mind up fully yet over upgrading to outdated but factory RNS-E or getting a far better double DIN nav unit at the expense of it not looking nearly as good. Not a massive priority currently.
