I went for roof down too. The guy wasn't keen as it was flippin cold, but we had it anyway and it was surprisingly calm and bluster free in there from about the nipples down.. Engine sounded good with it down too

I forgot to ask. Who was the chap that made a hastily exit without getting escorted by the marshalls, only for them to hoon it after you in the Transit Van? We laughed a lot.

Head up display in the RS6, which was awesome until I put my polarized raybans on and it then disappears as the polar filter takes it out:(
And, testing an RS4 on boggo suspension and steering in comparison to my dynamic car
Suffered the same in my car. Favourite Sunglasses on & the HUD vanishes so have had to swap shades to compensate:(
I liked the HUD a lot, but I found the massive binnical on the top of the dash for it a to be a bit 'cheap' in comparison to the otherwise quite nice cabin and it didn't appear to fit particularly flush.
I don't remember anything like that on my old E60M5, but that was a long time ago
What's the F10 like ? I'm assuming, like the E60, it was always designed to have it and wasn't an option, so not added on later like the RS ?
I've had a drive of an F10, and I don't remember seeing a big plastic lump on the dash for it (but then I was holding on for dear life as it was blimmin fast for a RWD car :biggrin3: )

For info, did you know that the HUD cars have to have a different windscreen to non HUD car in the range, so I'd hate to think what a replacement windscreen on an F10 M5 or HUD Eq'd RS6 would cost through auto glass
BMW have been doing HUD for a long time now so in the F10 M5 it must be at least V2 or 3. It's cut out of the dash & well sunk in with minimal trim on the F10 so whilst sat in the drivers seat the hardware is not visible. I recall on the C7 it does sit above the dash by a good inch or so & looks chunky. On the F10 it displays pretty much everything you could need & switches when you change functions so it displays music tracks when switching tracks, contacts when searching, full sat nav instructions (even the 3d exit lane warnings) & when in M mode you get an F1 style gear change display.

Personally i think it's an excellent idea as with so much Tech in the car it does focus your attention on the road.

What a fantastic day, pity you didn't get more time in the cars, big thanks to Phil and Audi for the opportunity roll on the next one.

Pity about the bloody pheasant spectating then decided to get as better view so crossed the 1 mile straight as I came towards it at 120, the build quality of the RS6 is top notch as the car was unmarked unlike the pheasant.

I feel a little guilty about that. That dumb feck pheasant tried killing itself in front on my on the Alpine course. It slowly walked when I was about 2" from it! I couldn't see it until it wandered out from under the front.

Seems I may have scared him from the hilly bit to the peace and quiet of the 1 MILE STRAIGHT*

or perhaps they'd all dumb fecking birds! :biggrin2:

I nearly hit a pheasant on the alpine course too. Late in the afternoon there were about a million crows flying around which could had made things entertaining but they stayed their distance.
