i thought a windscreen replacement didnt count towards a claim?!

I have never had this issue with any other insurer.

Is that what they said when you called them? Unbelievable

No they didn't. They started with some bollocks story that it wouldn't and that me removing a driver from my policy incurred the changes. When I advised them I had not removed anyone and explained the step process they then said that windscreen cover would not affect my no Claims Bonus (funny that since I pay to have tha protected) but it could affect my premium which is not what I said when I rang to say I was replacng the windscreen. The guy was getting himslef all confused. In the end I got a £50 loyalty discount which take it down to £807 but TBH the £820 online is for 4,000 miles p.a. more so they will end up roughly the same.

So beware people. Sure enough now MoreThan is unavailable to quote on Confused or Moneysupermarket.com at this time. I'm going to try again in 24 hours. Meantime I've asked Adrian Flux and will see what they come back with.

Just tried Adrian Flux and they are a full 75% more expensive than MoreThan! I paid less for insurance after my DD ban in '99 than they were quoting!

Can't guarantee they are best for all, but another option is not a bad thing.
Not great for me, £1500+ against my renewal of £807 So it would appear that insurers are hiking up the premiums and are not bothered about trying to be competitive. I may yet have to swallow my pride and stick with MoreThan.

P_G wrote:As much as i have been promoting MoreThan I would like to rescind that. Was looking around at prices using the details on my last policy, MoreThan via Confused.com was quoting £594 including legal cover. Great.

However today my renewal came through. £860. They've added the claim for a new windscreen this year. So put that into to Confused.com and now MoreThan won't quote via that site. Went to moneysupermarket.com and they did for Morethan; £820. So because I had a new windscreen and paid the £60 excess on it my premium has gone up £220+. So windscreen cost £280 in total.

Robbing barstewards. Now looking around.
i mentioned this to you before fella about less than, you have been lucky..when i had my m3 stolen they said they would not pay for any claim, because two years previous i had asked for a claim form when some stupid women reversed and tapped my front bumper at a junction...the women asked not to go through the insurance so done it that way,and because i did not inform less than they said my insurance was void...but they still renewed my insurance for the next two years and took my doe :x and dont get me on there silly call centre all i ever got was the patels telling me they were dave or tracey how can i help you...bud,bud...

I agree with you, however all said and aprt from Bell Direct all other quotes are £1K and over. What the hell is going on with the insurance industry, premiums are just ridiculous and near levels not seen since the 80's.

It needs a shake up and personally I'm tired of paying for others people <beep> driving and personal injury claims. I am involved in two non fault fully recovered accidents and have to have a replacement windscreen and my policy is effectively double what it should be through no fault of my own apart from I drive my car.

i think you have hit the nail on the head there..even though they are non fault accidents i am sure they still count against you, which is ridiculous.. i am with norwich union, but a few mates of mine who have a bit of a dodgy motoring history are with diamond.
