sorry by the dealer is talking bollocks. you have had a "safe" mode event, there will be a (probably series of) code(s) logged - generally a solenoid issue or something similar. as a matter of course, they should printout the code for later reference. it culd be conceivable that a non-gearbox event triggered the safe mode (ecu issue?) and so *all* codes are potentially relevant.

has it happened again?

I have had the same symptoms but haven't waited for another safe mode to kick in. I have kept the car off the road and will until it goes back to Audi (tomorrow morning) for the oil change. I will ask again for the codes recorded during the safe mode event..............

Any more word on this? Did the oil change do any good? I bought a 2nd hand rs6 2 months ago privately. The first thing I noticed was a clonk on the step down and when cold the gearbox slips so I have to put it into tiptronic for the first 5 minutes. I also now get a bit of judder and low revs and low speed. I am very worried. This is the most I have ever spent on a car and don't really have a huge amount to spend. Also we only have 1 audi dealer in Northern Ireland and I think they charge you to day good morning!! Let me know your thoughts and how rs6nick got on. My car have around 55k miles.

Hi - any updates on this would be useful.

Mine is doing this gearshift fault now, and using the acceleration in 1st/2nd gears is now pretty difficult to achieve.

I'm leaving at the local Audi dealer (where I work) today for them to do the oil change and get the oil seals checked.

I just want some advice on here so I'm not told any innaccurate info when they've diagnosed the trouble.

Is it possible that the fault will be valves not holding enough pressure therefore the valve chest needs to be inspected/individual valves replaced?

Thanks for any info.

Andrew.
