Tried the seatbelt/harness trick but minus electric seats! Little harder to implement but very effective compared to ending up on the passenger knee round round-abouts! (not always a bad thing! :D) Not too good at junctions but i'm sure it would be a handy trick for tracks.
Yellow Mini One, AmD tuned to 130bhp, K&N induction kit, Milltek cat-bac exhaust, go-faster bonnet stripes (at least another 10bhp!)

Yeah - but my camera skills leave a lot to be desired. But posted as per your request nonetheless...

Basically it locks the belt across your lap thus pinning you tight to the seat, the rest of the belt across your torso is free to move enabling you to still reach for things within close proximity.
You can adjust it as tight as you like or simply leave the slide-lock off for everyday driving if you prefer not to use it all the time.
It's extremely effective on track!

back to the original post - has anyone fitted harnesses? since I have never used them I would like to know what is good/bad for them - I expect the 3" straps are better. What do people do for rear mounts if you use the car for everyday use as well.

Doug, my original idea was to try to find something that would loop/attach around the rear crossmember behind the rear seats. But consensus seems to be that without a roll cage a 4 point harness would be unwise.

Be interesting to see where this goes now....

Link to a 4 point set up in a 330i using rear seat belt anchors. The rear tailstraps each have a buckle that can be quickly disconnected to allow the back seat to be used.

Sort of thing you had in mind?
