I am not in anyway trying to point the finger here but there is nothing Audi or any other manufacture can do with regard to non franchise traders using sleeping partners to order cars and then resell them without even driving them. The more cars on sale at a premium the better for motor manufactures and enthusiast like ourselves. It keeps residuals up and gives the general public the "I must have attitude". While there is a perceived opinion with the general public that there is a shortage of supply it keeps the orders coming in for the manufactures so its not in their interest to stop used cars selling at a premium. Another thing, the sale of used cars is not "consumer protected" as much as new cars are. Maybe it is in the interest of motor manufactures to allow cars that are very early in the production cycle to be moved on without the maximum consumer protection available.

Very well said Tanoga!

I would like to say a big hello to all on this forum. My name is Marcus and I am the man behind Fontain and can't help making a point or two regarding this topic. However, I must firstly say I have always had a lot of respect for RS246 and have been meaning to join up for ages just to join the chat. Let me stress, I am not here to sell anything or just defend our company, readers must make up their own minds on that one. We have been around long enough now to expect the odd bit of criticism here and there, that's what makes the world go around!

We like 00's of other dealers in the UK are fully independent of Audi UK and therefore they have no hold or jurisdiction over us. I believe that has got to be a good thing for Audi consumers. Audi UK need competition, without that they would grow fat and lazy and ultimately the consumer will suffer. Competition can come in all guises, whether it is lower prices, quality or availability.

I can’t agree with Matt, we don’t destroy customer’s faith in the product. Premiums for rare cars have been going on for decades whether it is a Porsche, Bentley or Aston, it just is the law of supply and demand. There are plenty of potential customers out there who have only just heard of the RS4, maybe they are not general Audi enthusiasts or maybe they are just too busy working most of the time to spend the time ordering early or tracking down a physical car at a main dealer. Either way, we are sometimes able to sell a model at a premium where demand is very high and I believe that the RS4 is such a model. But make no mistakes; we have purchased many other models in the past, such as the first S4 and RS6 where there were no premiums to be had and Fontain lost money on the exercise. As Tanogo said, premiums for RS4 can only be a good thing as they help to strengthen demand and residual value, something we have been good at doing for years!
Finally for some advice. There are a few unsold cars or slots out there to be found without premium but these are running out fast now that the car has finally hit the roads. If anyone does want one this year, I would urge them to grab one while they can!

So if orders in the pipeline are not freely transferable, then those for sale on the likes of ebay will be totally worthless (or scams)?
Not worthless, they will just be 2nd hand, as they will have to be registered in the original customers name, or if a dealer orders a car, say for his DP, then changes his mind and sells it, it would be classed as a demo.

Dear fontainRS,

You have made some very valid points, noty much I can say really. Not against Fontain as such, I do agree with your views about keeping values high. This Forum however is painting a picture that B7`s are freely available. "quotes like Fontains have ANOTHER RS4" paint an invalid picture.

There are a few cancelled orders and a few build slots available at Audi dealers, and you guys have been clever and secured cars, fair play to you.

I have been speaking to one of your customers who has taken delivery of his B7 via you and is very pleased.

Matt

Thats because they aren't. They are available to any Jo Shmo who wants one, maybe not indefinately, but right now my mum could go and buy an RS4 at list. And they've been on the roads for weeks.

"Limited" to me means that a car is unavailable once they are launched unless you ordered one in advance or you want to pay a premim. An M5 is "limited"

I agree with most, if an Independent wants to sell a car for a profit and a bag of magic beans, good on them. If someone offers me a premium for my Avant in September, I'll sell it to them. Marcus?
RS4 B5. Where it all started.
RS6+ Never to be replaced.
Replaced by: 997 Turbo. Didn't like.
Replaced by RS6. I like(d).
Land Rover Defender. Not as nippy.
Back with C6 RS6
And again C7 RS6

Hi Marcus. Heard a few things about you from Keith (very nice chap!)... all good I must add! Just wanted to say hi as well as a big THANK YOU to you guys for selling me a beautiful looking A3 Sportback 3.2 DSG for my wife. She loves it to bits and it looks a tad different from most others on the road with the Nothelle kit. Got it for a very fair price indeed... I was a bit disappointed that no-one could deliver it to me or meet me half-way but I understand your predicament regarding distance selling etc.

Anyway, I'm glad for you and the company that you made a fat profit on the RS4 and hopefully that you'll make another one. Just as post from above mentioned, if someone's happy paying the dosh, who cares??!!

Let me know if you wanna buy mine next April/May just before new M3 is released!

I'm really pleased you like the Sportback. Did look nice with the Nothelle kit on.

We are always looking for RS models so let me know next year when you're ready to sell.

Not in anyway taking sides/defending anyone/having a go at anyone but does the above discussion really cause that much of a problem that a yellow card is required :?: Would the end result not have been the same if it had been via a PM. Just interested as I (and others, personal or business) could be accused of having "solicited trade" in the past via this forum in one way or another without being cautioned. Has there been a change to the required etiquette that I may have missed :?: Link available :?: Flame suit on

Absolutely right! I wasn’t thinking at all when I responded to Gekko. I will of course PM in future if I am asked something regarding business.

Apologies to everyone.

You could of course become a site sponsor, pay for some advertising :beerchug: - you have a captive Audi audience... :kissmyrings:

The forum needs the funds to keep it the best site of this kind on the internet :rocker: not to mention the upgrade of the server...
