Yeah motec is not very user friendly, I get the impression they like it like that to stop "messers", it being a "serious" product and all.. bit of upholding reputation & ego inflating going on.

You looked at Autronic ? cheaper and can do just about everything motec does.. You'd probably want SM2 but you may be able to "make do" with SMC which is cheaper. Software is quite easy to use as well.. I can send you it in a zipfile if you want, its only small..
