Yeah, it just pops off. It’s nerve wracking but get a soft lever (plastic or wood or similar) and put it between the shell and the glass and prise the glass off towards you.
Like Steve said, it can suddenly pop off but it’s still connected by the umbilical.
I used a soft lever *and* cloth barrier to prevent any possibility of damage to the aluminium surround.

As described by the gentlemen. Also, when popping it back on, manual recommends to push it in at the center.
