Oil leak continues
Re: Oil leak continues
Yeah, I think it's both a good book and a good film.
Am actually part way through re-reading The Stand at the moment, too, another classic.

Re: Oil leak continues
Christine is taking the piss.
The negatives
On top of the oil leaks and leaking cv boot.
Friday rear view mirror packed in.
Saturday (today) while on a long journey :
Offside Brake light bulb warning light on instrument cluster has now come on.
Owt else this week and 4 thugs with sledgehammers is going to teach Christine a lesson. I will also fill up the petrol tank and set light to her.
The positives.
Really smooth and lovely drive between 50-70 mph.
Oil temp sat at 75 degrees c and stayed there.
Water temp never budged off 90 degrees c
Battery at a constant 14 volts
Air con keeping us nice and cool.
Not forgetting the immense benefits after the pedal box fix.
She is not playing ball at the moment or returning the love I have lavished on her.
All minor problems I know. But it’s soooooooooo
Irritating.

Re: Oil leak continues
I would suggest saying within earshot 'any more faults and she's off to WBAC' and seeing whether that causes a major strop or everything mysteriously fixes itself!
Have you been looking at other cars? I'd swear one of mine used to get jealous and would misbehave when I'd be looking on autotrader for a garage mate for it.

Ha ha suz. Yes I have been looking at other cars. But only other Rs6 cars to see what parts I can get my hands on for the future.
Will try your recommendation and threaten her with
WBAC. If that fails then it’s the sledgehammers.

Re: Oil leak continues
Brake bulb warning light sorted. New Halfords bulb fitted.
Parking sensors intermittent problem.
They work ok when it’s raining.
Continuous beep when it’s dry.
Drivers door open light still not working - Got to sort door micro switches out. New bulb didn’t cure the problem.
Need to check for any broken wires going into the door. As this is apparently a common fault.
Christine is still playing silly buggers.
Just going to get a tree branch and give her a damn good thrashing. It worked for John Cleese in fawlty towers ?

Think I might do the same...
Daytona RS6 C5 Avant. Viper'd, Billies, Waggers, MTM box brain, C6 stoppers, xcarlink, R8 coolant cap (woohoo)
///M3 E46 | XC90 (V8, natch) | Passat GTE | RR Classic V8 flapper

Re: Oil leak continues
Tried it on a previous car. Didn’t work but it made me feel a lot better.
Re: Oil leak continues
Parking sensor might be duff. I'm sure mine started making a constant noise when one had died. Replaced that one and it was fine after that.
Re: Oil leak continues
Yeah, sensor. They normally fail the other way round, i.e. borked when wet, fine when dry.

Yes suz and Ben.
But bear in mind. This is Christine we are talking about.
Sensors Will probably start working if I play a 1950,s music cd at high volume.

You need to stand in front of her and challenge her to show you what she can do….

Re: Oil leak continues
I have my own Christine here. Fired the boat up on the hose last weekend to check all was OK ready to run it next weekend.
Drive was making a whining noise louder than it's owner.
Pulled the top cap off the drive to find this....
Obviously some moisture has got in there......Balls.
The 2nd pic bearing is only available as part of the gearset. The gearset costs > 1.5 RS6 unit £, let alone all the other bits.
Balls. Again.

Hi Matt. Yes cars bikes and boats can send you nuts at times. But hopefully we all get the problems sorted out eventually. Usually time and money wins in the end.
