Swapping your roof to your new car is a piece of cake for a decent body Shop. No need to cut it out.
Well done finding another RS4, I'm sure you will make it good given your exeperience and using your old one as a doner for all the decent parts.
You need to start a build thread, here's looking forward to seeing your new RS4 taking shape.

Just my 2 cents as an owner of six months! I bought the following car:

2007 Phantom Black Saloon
62k miles
Technology pack
Sports suspension plus
Recaro seats, flat bottom wheel
Rear heated seats
Sunroof
Passenger window blinds, rear electric window blind
Bose stereo

Decent spec, got it for £17950.

HOWEVER! I've had to sink some cash into it. Audi did a pre-purchase inspection which resulted in two lower front arms and a CV boot. I brought the car to my specialist for a health check and all four upper front arms needed replacing. A massive issue with these cars is that the upper arms seize to the suspension upright and it becomes impossible to separate them without breaking anything, which would result in four new arms, two new uprights, two new wheel bearings, and probably two new tie rod ends. That's exactly what happened. I complained to Audi that they should have spotted these issues before I bought the car, and they did all the above work including a DRC recharge for around £1100. That was a nightmare to sort out.

Since then I've put new discs and pads all round, brake fluid change, couple of tyres, carbon clean and a Milltek exhaust. Car is top notch now, I absolutely love it.

Maybe I just had a bad experience with my pre-purchase inspection, and by all means get one done, but if you get one done by Audi take it with a pinch of salt. They can't really be arsed to do one to be honest, they don't get much out of it so will more than likely do a sloppy job.

If you know someone who works for TPS then you're golden when it comes time to replace bits. I got genuine front discs and pads for £575, rear discs and pads for £450.

I always said I'd tidy up the car and do all the maintenance to get it up to scratch, then leave it. But I'm already eyeing up an MRC stage 2, and some coilovers when the DRC lets go

I guess that’s the way it goes sometimes.

Coilovers once the DRC goes is the way to go. So far as stage 2 remap, I’m in two minds his time round. I had it done on my last one but it’s a lot of money for not a lot. The biggest difference is the throttle response when in sport mode but to be honest that gets a little irritating it’s so sensitive.
