I do think and from what I have read insurance companies and DVLA see things differently. But yes I will be making some phone calls Monday 9am. Fingers crossed.

If the sh1t is hitting the fan you will know after you get your replies from your confirmations that you was the driver. 1st ticket will be 3pts. 2nd ticket will be a summons to court for a ban. (This of course is if they see you as a new driver) At court you will have a chance to plead "exceptional hardship". Get a letter from your employer to say your job relies on you driving and you have no other way of providing for your family without a Job. 3rd will be 3pts and all 9 will stay on your license.

I had to beg for mine (I've got the full house 12pts) in January and luckily my begging saved me a ban.

Invest in a dashcam! Has gps and camera locations.
Or Waze on your mobile which everyone seems to be raving about

I must admit, I pay much more attention to variable and motorway speed limits than I used to. I gather you have about 10 mph tolerance on the M25 etc when they are displaying a limit. The tolerance is greater when there are no limits displayed I think? ie. Its 70 mph, normal motorway speed limit

The the M1 between me and London cannot be blasted at night time now, there are cameras down there! Ditto the M1 which was widened and improved between the three Nottingham junctions several years ago. I am told there are also some around Ashford on the M20 which doesn't (iirc) have any kind of variable speed limit signs up.....

2014 was the last year I had the S4: I did 95 (kph) all the way down a deserted M20 southbound at 6am to catch a half hour earlier chunnel than booked. I remember it because I drove to Le Mans with no co pilot - the only year I've gone solo. I wouldn't dare do that nowadays!

Eddie, didn't realise you've got 12! Didn't work for Susy Wolff - judge banned her in court after totting up and getting 12 points! Have to feel she was made an example of because of a) her wealth and b) ex-racing driver. What makes me angry is that there are people driving around with 30 and 40 points who have not been banned. Makes a mockery of the system

Well I've been driving pretty much how I've wanted since getting the car. I usually sit between 90-100 on the motorway and I have had no repercussions until now. It's just surprising that it's all hit me at once.

Yep at the time I should have got the 12th point ( April 2016) 3 we're falling off in August 2016 but I blagged it till May 2016 to respond that I was the driver then when they sent me the guilty/ not guilty plea form I dragged that on till July and when I finally fessed up I was back down from 9 to 6 points BUT when they finally clocked what I had done it was a straight summons to court which never happened until 30th January 2017 and they said because the offence was April and at that point i was at 9 then I should have been Banned. Another 3 points fell off on the 25th January so technically I was only on 3 points on the day at court but they just LOL'd when I was giving it the Barry in the dock. I gracefully got on all fours and offered the judge some lube and begged like a Mofo. Exceptional hardship offered and thanked the lord.

That's pure luck. You'd not be wise to do that now. The motorway network is heavily policed (cameras and otherwise) for speeding.

I'm a good boy Eddie, no points (nobody can believe it including me). Only been stopped once for pulling away from a set of lights at 1am with no other cars in the road (typically cops were waiting at the lights at the junction round the corner). Their reasoning was, I was a danger to other road users, yet there was nobody else on the dual carriageway in either direction..
I won't lie, I push the limit on the motorway, but I don't in built up areas.

Yeah, I driver faster in the van than car for some strange reason. Think it's cause it takes sooooooo long to get the van moving again.
