Another one gone? Stay safe guys.
Re: Another one gone? Stay safe guys.
Hi guys and for the ones that didn't know ill re-cap. I first noticed these pond scum eyeing up my car on the 4/11 on my CCTV. I then added a Disklok on the same night. 2 days later I fitted a security post and Yale wireless PIR alarm to the car. With the security I have around the outside of my house the not so dumb scumbags probably guessed that I don't sleep without my main house alarm on so basically they were out of options to steal my car from my home.
I can only assume the next part but I had noticed hand marks on my dirty wheels 4 days prior to the hijack and to this day I swear the theives had been underneath my car and placed a location device underneath without me knowing and I had only noticed when I saw the hand marks. Due to this they had found my location of work and that's where they did the deed of hijacking me 14/12. My Disklok was on at the time and they knew this and when I gave one <beep> my sole car key he knew this and demanded the Disklok key before he let go around my neck. It had taken them 5 weeks to work out my routine. Now all I'll say to you guys is the harder you make it impossible for them to take from you it seems the more determined and ruthless the may become. TBF all this does remind me of the old days with cossies, Rs fords and the scooby/evo days. You can't have anything desirable today cause what's desirable to us is very to the thief.

Re: Another one gone? Stay safe guys.
I got to get out of Brum!!!!! Just got home from work and the missus told me that a young girl was hijacked from a new Ford Fiesta in Castle Bromwich Birmingham today. They put a few logs in the middle of the road causing an obstruction and as she stopped and got out to move the logs they pounced on her throwing her to the ground and took her car. Foooooooking scum!!!!!
Edit. Missus got it wrong. It was a 59year old lady.

Re: Another one gone? Stay safe guys.
If they want to steal mine, it'll save me next week's service and brake pads bill
Cars do get stolen, and we all know this when we buy fancy cars, but that's why we have insurance, and then gap insurance
My keys are left downstairs. They're not visible from a window, but if any thief is willing to break into my house to steal my car, I don't want to put my wife and kids at risk by having them coming upstairs looking for them
Same goes for extra security. I provide enough to keep my insurance happy, and that's good enough for me
Keep safe people

We had a baby car seat put outside our gates to the drive. The wife had told me a few days before that there was a scam going around like this, people get out to see if there is a baby in it, then take the car. I just got out the van, fetched my sledge hammer out the back and had a stroll down the road, didn't see anyone come forward and the wife didn't have a problem when she left for work either. Jealous, lazy fecking scum bags. I'm not in brum, but not far enough away from it either

Re: Another one gone? Stay safe guys.
the Clifford blackjax seems like a good device to get installed as it kills the engine within a set distance (I think ) so the car would just have to be abandoned.

I'm pretty sure it stops the engine from being restarted if stopped rather than killing it, as that'd have all sorts of legal implicationsrtd wrote:the Clifford blackjax seems like a good device to get installed as it kills the engine within a set distance (I think ) so the car would just have to be abandoned.

yes i'm sure you re right bad choice of words I think it powers the engine down slowly bringing it to a stop and then you can't start it again.Graeme4130 wrote:I'm pretty sure it stops the engine from being restarted if stopped rather than killing it, as that'd have all sorts of legal implicationsrtd wrote:the Clifford blackjax seems like a good device to get installed as it kills the engine within a set distance (I think ) so the car would just have to be abandoned.

From the Clifford website:
Fully automatic: No buttons or transmitters to push when a gun is involved. Just get away from the vehicle. Quick response: BlackJax allows the criminal to drive away a safe distance. Then a few seconds later BlackJax blares the siren and flashes the lights to alert other drivers and witnesses. It then pulses down the ignition system to safely force the vehicle to slow to a complete stop. Siren blaring and lights flashing unable to restart the engine the carjacker has no choice but to abandon the vehicle.

Re: Another one gone? Stay safe guys.
I'm surprised the safety boards allow a car to be disabled or slowed remotely. Just imagine that car is crossing a dual carriageway when the engine slows down, and the car doesn't make a gap, or the implications to the immobiliser interfering with the cars engine managementMikeFish wrote:From the Clifford website:

Really not sure about the BlackJax. If they really want it, they'll be back and will want you to enter the override code. I fear it just ups the ante.

Everyone is forewarned then, though. You recover the car, get rid of it asafp and lay low for a while.
