Apparently, this was repairable but because it had been driven on while flat (it was on an RS3 so no TPMS) the side wall was knackered so a replacement was needed.

Hopefully yours should be fine :beerchug:
I know exactly what you mean, had 3 now on our RS3 and on two occasions the tyre was knackered because it had been driven a distance while low on pressure.
It's not easy to spot a problem when the tyres are such a low profile to begin with.

The RS 3 seems a magnet for nails and screws.

Has it plug repaired, and did Vmax on it a week later with lots of runs to 160+ with no probs
Guess that says it all really
As long as your comfortable with that....I wouldn't be. It would niggle me knowing. I guess you have just as much chance of s blow out with a new tyre as you do with a repaired one but......
i know what you mean, it did niggle me at first
However, mine were a couple of K worn, so I'd have wanted to replace both fronts to be sure of consistency, and a £10 repair at a decent tyre place was a lot easier on my mind than £500 for two tyres
I must be a magnet for punctures as got one 2 days into my winter tyres, which got plugged too

I just have to say this to the people who would be worried about using a repaired tyre.. (that hasn't been run flat)

A puncture caused by a nail or screw is tiny, it will go between the metal cords so the only problem is air escaping, the tyre is not weakened, at all... Period. Now consider the patch used cannot come off, and centrifugal force is holding it in place and not trying to pull it off. (Not that this matters as the rubber cement is very strong)

On a high performance car I would have concerns about using tyre with a heat vulcanised repair, but purely because I'd be uncertain how the rubber compound had been affected.

I've patched a lot of tyres, some for very decent cars. I'm a very conciencous (sp?) person, but I wouldn't worry about the safety of the customer even for a second because I know the repair cannot fail.

So what exactly scares some of you about using a tyre that's had a very minor repair done?

FYI this is the plug type patch, as you can see it isn't simply a plug like the temporary repair plugs that can be put in from the outside, these can't come out regardless of speed. For a small nails like some of the pics a regular patch would be more than up to the job though.
