You don't want to retro fit anything but you systematically went through that list and said "Pah, I can retro fit that"

I was responding to Amar more than anything as he knows where im coming from.

The kit that could be retrofitted with a little effort is the stuff I'd not worry about the car I buy having, and so unlike Amar those items aren't high on my list. It doesn't mean I'll spend the weekend immediately after purchase ripping it apart to stuff bits in it, but at least they remain a retrofit option at a later date. So yes, I appreciate the microfiber roof, and would like one, but I'm not limiting my options by seriously trying to find a car with it in, but if I find the parts later I'm sorted, and relatively easily.

Buying a car without a sunroof is a bit more of a permanent problem, but if it ticked every other box then so be it.

After several weeks of searching the unlikely reality of my holy grail search has well and truly sunk in...

The only real option you should care about and that matter on a RS6 is the ceramics.
Rest pale into insignificance when 800bhp kicks in.. ;)

Yep, driving to and from work yesterday, cold but sunny. I wanted a sunroof to appreciate it :( gutting.

But I honestly get you, I've had a 996 c4s as my car with a motorbike for my daily ride. The car is performance wise amazing, no where near as fast as the 6 but so much more direct.

I bought and rs6 for the same thing, comfort! I can now cruise down the motorway at a tonne four up, pop to Wickes and get 16 bags of ready mix or pop on the tunnel and rag it round the ring a couple of times a year having had a very fast and relaxing trip across four countries in 3 hours having my picture taken in each by these weird modelling agency cameras on poles at the side of the road! I've never got a letter saying I've won though!

It's the car that does everything and does it with stealth! So as a bonus, when Gary in his Citroen ax (insert modern equivalent here) sits on your arse in solid traffic you can let him past, get to the next roundabaout, put it in neutral, Rev the bits off it, give him this eye, sport mode and he's never seen again pretty much from the exit of said roundabout, so also makes you feel 17 again!

It's an awesome car all round, wish I had a sunroof and am going to replace the springs.

Thanks for the support, was starting to feel like I was very alone in my desires for a high spec example...

Still, this thread has made me realise that a good majority of folk buy these cars for very different reasons to me, and a lack of high spec examples from the factory make the supply second hand much harder. I've been spoiled with umpteen a8 /s8 models where ticking every box on the list is far more commonplace.

I don't think the rs6 is alone, high spec a3, a4, a5 etc are all equally sparse in hindsight.

Doesn't mean I'll give up looking for one.... :biggrin3:

It_s8. I like your points system. I was trying to work out my final score on my 6 when I bought it. Mine had the 7spoke wheels I wanted 5. Quite a few dents in the body work, front tyres on the limit. Piano black trim I wanted carbon. Chrome optics, I wanted black. It did have only 47k on the clock though
