Not feeling it, the arches are to big and it's too low.
It's looks like its been left in the sun and the body has melted over the wheels.
I do like the wheels though, I just like to see all of them!... It reminds me of one of the old citroens!.
I read Danny is thinking of doing a widebody b8 s4 saloon, should be interesting.

No, I wanted a new RS4 with the wide arches but not the boxy type (think B7 RS4 or C7 RS6 rather than C6 RS6 or B8 RS4).
The S4 engine is so much more tuneable but more importantly the RS4 is not available as a saloon so that is a killer for me. New RS6 is avant only too. RS5 not enough door, RS7 just not good looking enough. So I'm thinking take an B8 S4 saloon and give it some arches (not box arches though), better wheels, brakes, suspension, add some buckets, tune it up, job done. Maybe sort out the wing mirrors too.

Funnily enough I remember somebody from back in the max power days that made a wide body conversion (I think it was a Cortina) by hammering some sheet aluminium around some paving slabs to make the box arches!

Edit: probably use the B8 RS4 bumpers though, like the A4 above.

i know what your saying regarding box arches, im not a massive fan myself although the b8 rs4s looks have grown on me. but like you say avant only and im a saloon man myself.
but i think a widebody b8 s4 with b8 rs4 metal would look OEM, almost like a one off made for some big cheese in audi. i think custom arches would be harder to pull off.
i wonder if we will get the rs3 saloon?(rumored for the american market) probs the same size as a b5 a4.

It's the B8 that is showing Audi what the B9 should look like.

Box arches are what the original Quattro had http://gomotors.net/pics/Audi/audi-quattro-sport-05.jpg, so they're far more in keeping with the Audi heritage.

But not really in-keeping with RS4s, is it? The B8 being the only outing of a box arch on said RS model. From a design point of view, the B5 & B7 RSes are more aesthetically pleasing. There are many, many forum melt-down reasons for and against, however, let's look at 'the history' so we can build a simple a design 'language'. The box arches of the UrQ/quattro were in-keeping with the material handling of the day and the 'box' design of the original car, in short, it's a very boxy looking car. The current B8 RS has box arches more as a homage, it has almost limitless production media and design options available to it that are far more advanced in comparison to the UrQ/quattro, yet, they mated a box arch to the largely 'bulbous' B8 design. In my point of view, Audi smartly played a 'history repeating' card, there is no real reason to slap blisters on the B8, IMO it'd have looked waaaay better with 'RS4 arches', but some PR prick, somewhere, had overheard a journo winging about the demise of the group-B 'box arch' and a drunken idea was born by a PR dolt with zero idea of design. Ergo, the B5 & B7 are truer design classics in the RS4 mould, the B8 RS is merely a marketeer's wet-dream that got smeared all over a lowly car designer's to-do-list. Not the first time it's happened, just cast thy eye over a C6 RS and before all of you allroad C6 drivers tell me you think blisters look 'the bomb', look again, this time don your proper, contemporary Audi flared arch glasses, see! How good is that?

Reeeespekt. I guess if you're gunna build one, it'd have to be a box arched version, otherwise, no one in the world would give it any credit. It makes it sooo easy to point at a B8 'loon with built-up RS box arches and say "that's what a B8 RS loon would like if Audi built it". It's going to be a monumental task to pull off a traditional RS4 arch on a B8 without EVERYONE saying "that looks like a bastard hybrid, KILL IT WITH FIRE!" Let's be honest, it's always going to be up for interpretation, thus, it'll always look like a bastard one-off without any reference point.

Note: I haven't got the balls to do either of these projects so they're both technically brilliant and I'm just a drunk man chatttin' <beep> *He says, currently sat at Heathrow term.5 finishing off a 2nd bottle of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Oh how much are the American passport control going to loooove me...*

Howell's work on Doug's B5 'loon can only be described as 'premium' but it further crystallises my drunken point of view. The B5 RS4 had the same arches, if box arches were slapped on a B5 then it'd be a bastard... much like anyone trying to recreate the B7 'look' on a B8. If you want credibility, mimic the 'avant only version'... however, it doesn't change my opinion that the B8 is a lesser RS4 due to a PR/marketing <beep> getting involved at design stage, insisting on blisters/box archwork. It'd be a better looking brute if Audi had resisted the 'historic association' urges, IMO.
