I can personally vouch how much bonkers fun these are an you'll not lose a penny in depreciation. If anything there is strong chance these will hold up like mk1 exige prices and even appreciate like them.
You still got yours? The 340 R has jumped in price, they were under 20k for ages, now good ones are 30k! This one is 25k because its a) winter and b) a pre-production chassis

I'm sure my wife would disagree with the 'voice of reason' bit, lol, but I'm kind of in the same boat
I want a new car, but don't need a new car, just getting the itch
but can't find anything that really grabs me right now, nor that would justify the expenditure
the difference in cost per time utilized factored with the actual difference in enjoyment derived just doesn't add up FOR ME, but it's an individual calculus
plus the RS4 is on the low slope part of the depreciation curve

so I'll wait, and read, and dream...the anticipation and the search is all part of it, and may be a big part of the journey's enjoyment, it may last for a year, while the intial purchase rush lasts weeks...although I will say the RS4 still delivers a smile every time it is used ;)

the new S8 has piqued my interest, but not at 120k US
0-60 3.5 sec
1/4 mile 11.8 at 119!!!

in a few years a low mileage example will be had for 70k or so, then I will take a serious look
the S6 is also another

the shopping is 1/2 the fun
Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe...Albert Einstein

R8 - agree with DK in that it is nothing like a b7, which has shocked me using it daily. It is not light on the front - a porsche front end is light and dances, the r8 is way more planted at the front. The R8 has a lot of fun factor built in but can be used every day as a "sensible" car.

Hmm tough one!
If I was in your position the choices in order of preference would be;

Supercharge the car you've got, it will renew your enthusiasm for your car believe me!
Sell up and Buy a GT3 or RS
Sell up and buy a Noble but make sure you get a sorted one  Minimal depreciation(if any), awesome performance and handling, and British too!
Keep your own car and keep putting pennies away whilst waiting on R8 V10's depreciating down to an affordable level for you to afford one.

Nothing much else interests me at the moment.

I think you're right with the R8 V10 - I just looked at Gallardos but the servicing would be astronomic. Thinking AM V8 maybe something like this...

Why are we not all in these things? Also they have the 4.3 AND the 4.7 just like the Masarati Granturismo - coincidence or do they share the same powerplant?

Going to have to look at Porsche now aren't I

The 4.3 is a bit of a disappointment. It's like dating a supermodel who wants to wait until your married for sex and then after the ceremony declaring that actually she's a lesbian.

The 4.7 looks S good as the 4.3 but is downright filthy from the outset. :)

Coincidence. Thats a pricey 2006, the 4.7 from 2008 onwards is significantly faster, worth putting a bit more into the kitty, they start in the 40s

As mentioned in another thread the other day, a GT3 would make a great weekend car. 996 gen 2 GT3, 2003 - 2004 vintage. A Clubsport would probably have the best residuals of any 40k car you could buy too.

Dove House near me have had this one a while! Speed Yellow and the slightly higher mileage (49k) mean its well priced at 35k

I could still make that work, watching her getting off, I mean, how many of us are already in sexless marriages? A supermodel wife coping off with other supermodels while you watch, sounds the better option to me. Amiright?

With the supermodels that is.

Don't get me wrong - it's a nice car and the situation would be perfectly livable with and enjoyable.
You just know that someone somewhere else is having way more fun though ;)

For most people, most of the time, the car is not the limiting factor...
