I made the mistake of taking one of our cars to a 3rd party garage on the Wirral (BIG MISTAKE). They couldn't fix it and had to take it to Cheshire Oaks which just made the visit a waste of time. The 3rd party tried the usual trick of blagging the repair that was needed but Cheshire Oaks fixed it 1st time and supplied us with a car even though I didn't book 1. I have noticed that its these 3rd party garages that post negative feedback of main dealers on these forums. Is that because the 3rd party knows that they are not up to the job but just want to take your money anyway?
OK so you found a bad 3rd party garage, but they are not all like that - just like some Audi dealers are good and some are rubbish.

I use an indi garage only a few miles from Southampton Audi - Southampton Audi service are rubbish, but the indo is great (not surprising seeing as the owner runs a B5 RS4). Prices are about half, I get a loan car and I get honest advice from real enthusiasts who know what they are doing.

OK, so took car in - the tech drove it - thought that he could feel a slight jerliness at low revs.

No faults recorded - fitted new plugs - he thinks it's better - I dont think it's any different.

Asked about sw0090 but they think that this just ups the revs when cold and does not affect the hot mapping - is this true?

So will have a think - can I be bothered to take it to another dealer....

Service was courteous and efficient but as with many main dealers I think they are not that interested in very subtle faults....although they did invite me to return if not happy.

kasbridge - by posting in 2 threads you're splitting the replies you get, much better to stick to postiing in one thread only.

I've replied in the other thread you've posted in, saying that SW0090 DOES change the hot mapping.

I most definately do not work there thanks. My dad has owned Audis for years and bought me my first A3 when I passed my test. Since then I have had an A3, S3, TT and recently TTRS. My dad has an RS6 at the moment but has previously had an RS4 and 2 A8's etc. I guess you could say I was one of those jammy cows lucky enough to have a dad that buys me nice things. My dad was the one who went to the independant and had a nightmare with his car. I didn't hear the end of it so thought I would share his experience. I don't see why someone would have to work at a dealership just because they write about bad experiences with independants. I have alot of faith in Chester/Cheshire Oaks because my family have been going there for years, big deal.

No need to get so deffensive mate, its just it has been known in the past for people to big themselves up
or give themselves good feedback.

It was just one of those things that one of your early posts was to stick up for them.

It sounds like you and your father have had some cracking Audis

Been taking my RS4 there for 3.5 years, before that a B6 S4, 2 x S3's and an A2, they resolved a bodged repair job (by a national chain of body shops) on the A2 very well, sorted out early DRC issues on the RS4 within warranty, a few other minor issues, have done several services and I have always found them competent, knowledgeable and willing to go the extra mile
