Getting to London is fine, getting through London in an RS4 takes as long as it does for me to get to it from Newcastle! And in a one day trip that's more pain than I'm prepared to put me or the car through.

I take the train to London too, when I need to go. Everywhere else in the UK I go by car, but London is just too much of a PITA.
