It was the dealmaker for me. I’m going to find it hard not to have ceramics on my next car
C6 RS6 for you then, and you get them on the rear as well!

Think you may be wrong there!! All the pics of C6,s ive seen with ceramics only have them on the front?? I though t was only the R8 and V12 Q7 that have them front and back??

Nope the C6 RS6 in Neckarsulm in the forum and the one that was a customer order sitting outside Quattro GmbH both had ceramics front and rear along with the R8 V10 and Q7 V12 TDi.

These were the monster discs they had on the front....

That RS6 is nice, discs even better.

On a side note wasnt there a recent recall for the ceramics?

Like others, I'd have thought ceramics were the sign of a well specced car, not a well tracked one

At the time, I thought long & hard before not ticking the box. Whilst I really wish I had them, three years and a recession down the line I'm probably glad to have the £4,235 in the bank

Heavy users, or those who appear to have been unlucky with steel disks might think differently...

I went to look at the car today and unfortunately had other things i wasnt to keen on handing over that amount of money for, so had to decline on going for it in the end but thanks for all the comments people, willdefinately look for another specced with ceramics now

Wasn't there a thread about all the Audi cars being used at the Audi Experience days having steel brakes fitted though?

I'm sure one can think of all kinds of reasons why they might be preferred over ceramics but I did think it instructive at the time.

Perosnally I never had a problem with my steel brakes at the track.

I always thought the brakes were the best thing on the car.

You only had to compare them to the 993TT ones I had on my S2 or the RS6+ ones I have on my S4 to get a feel for how good they are/were.

I agree - the standard brakes do work well but like most pagid pads need a bit of heat to really work.

Ceramics are nice but I wouldn't say they are an essential option unless you want every last bit of performance.
