I've been given all kind of courtesy cars: a lousy VW Golf 1.6 diesel, smelling of smoke! A regular A3 (quite nice) and A6 3.0 diesel.
Mostly it depends on the day you get in, if it's unscheduled. If you manage to arrange it in advance you get a better deal. At least here in Italy.

With the busier London dealers you often need at least two weeks' notice to get any sort of courtesy car, and there doesn't seem to be any pattern, it's just what they've got sitting around. In the past I've had an A8 diesel, an A3, the dealer principal's A4 Avant 3.0tdi and a rather girly 2wd TT cabrio. I only got this S4 because I kicked up a stink and they got it from Audi UK.

Well, 13 days after it broke, I've got my car back.

:D

The invoice reads: Replaced thermostat seal, coolant bottle & coolant pipe.
Chatting to the Technician again, it's not something he's seen before and he's alerted Audi to the problem. I asked him if it was caused by too much city driving, and he reckoned it's just 'one of those things'. Those new cars, not many of them of about, teething sort of things. Hmmm. Like DRC and the DRL problem? I hope not.
Anyway, I'm glad it's sorted in time for the rainy Bank Holiday.
Have a good weekend, chaps.
