X979 PTL - goodwood green - anyone know it?
blimey he really has chopped quite a bit off, now at 11795 vs 12495
a bit cheeky on his part if you have a deal nearly agreed
i would certainly be looking to have a deal include that reduction or a good chunk of it with a part ex
i would suggest that the inspection will turn up at least DV's, MAF and N75 - regular items requiring change out. plus maybe some other items. depends if the previous owner really

a bit cheeky yes - but now he is not moving on price with part ex - he was giving me a decent part ex price on mine to be honest.
just phoned to try and get a bit of movement but nothing.
not sure what to do now to be honest.
it is cheap - perhaps too cheap now.
really not sure - distance is putting me off if it is not as described.
will see

So - came back empty handed today!
A long way to go to not buy but a few things played on my mind and others just annoyed me!
Many thanks to quattronutter for meeting me there and checking out everything including running a scan with the laptop.
a few bits and pieces needing doing which i suppose were to be expected but only having 3 weeks tax left on it, 2 tyres needing replaced immediately (which he was supplying to be fair) and the 12month warranty that I had been informed about by email had become a 3 month standard warranty that the seller admitted was not really any good.
Those were the annoying bits - that were going to affect me driving it the 350 miles home - disappointed that these bits stood out because if they had not been there and the car was ready to drive I may have been tempted.
Other things did need doing to at some point soon and with no real movement on the deal agreed over the phone/email i had to walk away.
I had really hoped, on the way down to see it that there would not be anything to put me off - the fact that it was just poorly prepared for sale topped it off for me. As a deal had basically been agreed it would have been more attractive if those bits had been sorted.
However if i had been paying cash then perhaps there would have been some movement - someone will get a good deal.

TBH if the seller is advertising the car as 'the cheapest RS4 in the country' I wouldn't have expected too much of the car or the seller.
You'll need a hefty chunk of luck to find a reasonable car, with part-ex, useful warranty, decently prepared, ready to drive away for that kind of money...
Don't get me wrong - hats off to you for sticking to your guns and walking away. I hope you find the right car at the price you need.

I understand what you are saying but i would of thought it would be ready for the road so to speak and not need taxed in a couple of weeks.
Oh and only one key too.
I know it was never going to be perfect but i just hoped that perhaps there would be a couple of things needing doing (which there were on top of what i listed above) - I may have been happier then but all those silly things just added up.
I could see me leaving my 05 A4 and cash with no issues and driving away with a list of things needing done immediately.
I know it will always need some money spending on it but not from the off when buying from a trader.
Anyway I will move on - perhaps try harder to sell mine first and then go looking with cash.

What was actually wrong with it then? It didn't have tax? So what it's 118 notes for 6 months or 215 for the year.
And needed two new tyres but he was going to put new ones one
Other than those what else needed doing?

diff leaking (£150), only one key (£150), needed MAF (£150), headlight washers not working (cost?), 2 tyres needing fitted (for me not ideal when i have a 350 mile trip home, oil only just showing on dipstick, back pads need doing soon (£100), tax up in three weeks (£200), warranty not as desribed, and from my final call to the seller before going "there was nothing putting potential buyers off".
I know these costs are guestimates but adds to approx £800 to be spent straight away without counting anything else that had not yet raised its head.
Apart from this list i have other thoughts based on dealer which i will keep to myself as they were to do with things that happened, my impression of the guy and the discussions we had on the day- but that is just my opinion.
I realise it may still seem like a good deal - if i had cash and not a part ex then i am sure more movement would have been possible and i may have been more interested but with part ex there was very little movement from seller - somewhat understandably
