If it has the option It will open fully when held for 3 sec's, super bit of kit

Many thanks for replies. It seems I do have this option then, pressing the middle button of the key fob results in a gracefully opening fully raised boot lid

When I took delivery of the car I asked the sales chap and he said what I just described was a standard feature and that auto opening was 'something else'

and that only works on saloons, not avants.

It's a shame it isn't on Avants, a power tailgate is a cool option.

All the saloon uses is an updated strut with a stronger spring or such like

I know the Avant door is heavier but could you change the strut(s?) with aftermarket jobbies and achieve something similar?

Do you have the boot release on the fob?

all the way - hold down button for a few secs, no need to unlock anything prior.... (57 saloon)
