I'm getting mine done now in conjunction with a big service before I get the car back (it's done 40k) even though the dealer insists that it's 60k now for an 04 car, I just dont want the risk, (they're charging £1k which they claim is a special price). Question is, is there anything needing doing 'while its being done' I'm thinking water pump, thermostat etc? I noticed Stunew's post, that's all.

Gord, I assume that for 1k they will be changing the water pump, thermostat, rollers, alternator belt etc but you had better check before you hand over your cash!

When I fitted mine I was approx 500 for parts but that was for everything, bought from Audi of course!!

anyone any thoughts on Stafford Audi, they charge £850, which albeit prob doesnt include all the parts. . . . sounds pretty good. Plus im thinking, iv got an Audi warranty, so as long as I get the cambelt changed, should something else go, i.e. the water pump, surely it would be covered under warranty and so they would have to pay to take the whole bloody engine out !

I will get mine done again at the next service just for peace of mind. Same as the oil, just had a change despite the fact its only just been done 4 months ago. Every car I own I get it changed 3k minimum! It jst depends on how far you want to push the envelope?
or if you want to push it at all !!

Yes I think official Audi view is now 60k or 5 years, based on the fact there was an uprated part from 2004 onwards . . . .

Im gonna get it done anyhow as it gonna need doing it some point soon.
Thats the point, hench early camblet changes and short oil services! I want to put NOTHING down to chance on a car like this.
