Hmmmm .... so may not be worth my while to invest in this (just yet...) - I will be going down the K04 route (+RS4 i/c's) as (if) and when the jolly old taxman gives me my '06 rebate - maybe around May/June hopefully...

I am guessing on a good K04 car you may see 20HP? My main reason is just the F-Hose thing - which I know can be avoided with a collector, but I dont fancy that.
Yes I will agree. I have a full Miltek 100 cell exhaust system and AmD remap and my peak power was 230 at the wheels, which I don't think is any higher (and probably lower) than earlier S4s with a similar set-up.

well dippy i just had a dyno session last sat and my peak power was 233.6bhp at the wheels..thats not bad considering i had a faulty lambda and a none working lambda..mine,s a 98 pre-face lift with a generic map..duel milltek and no main or pre-cats..
i also run an RS4 Y pipe..now my lambda,s are changed im gonne get it rechecked..i mite then fit my RS4 inlet man and throttle body and see what diff/gains i make if any..

Woody, are you going to get the rs4-s4 phenolic spacers from Vast so that
your ports match up (when fitting the RS4 IM)?

i can get the ports machined matched for alot less than the spacers will cost..all the ports will need is tapering to open the egdes out to the same size as the I/M..POP really..

Woody, can you get the IM internals ported & polished, as per the Vast service ... http://www.vastperformance.com/products/intake.php

Has anyone been able to compare RS4 vs. S4 IM to see what the internal finish is like?

Sounds great. Is this just using a gasket as a template? When I refitted my
IM I noticed the gasket didn't match the ports particularly well in the head or
on the manifold.

I have seen both and the RS4 is certainly an improvement. The RS4 one is a lot cleaner, but still not great. Porting & polising would be great... a shame the heads cannot really be done in place, else I would have that done. Again if I had known this when my heads came off I would have had them ported, polished and matched up to phoelic spacers ensuring best flow.

a gasket and a tube of engineers blue will mark out where the ports need modifying..i will also have the inlet manifold pegged so once done it will only go on in the same place and the gasket wont slip or cover the ports..
@nige yes i will get the manifold done like the pic on the vast web site..but looking at it i think there room to remove a little more metal..

Lol, you've never had to replace a G60 charger after it's blown then!

Is this F-pipe easy to examine or buried deep in the mystery of the engine bay?

Cheers

Good price woody, seems I am paying a little more, but hay ho. I suggested taking more material away, but Doug didnt like that idea, he suggested getting a turbulent effect when air enters the cylinder ensures good mixing of air/fuel at lower RPM.... so best left as is for off boost driving. Not sure how far I will take mine just yet.
