Tuner couldn't remap my car through OBD port, is this normal

i think some early chips are fixed map and no ability to change but later chips are flexible map of which the program can be erased and updated
map then downloaded and 'custumized'
doug or mihnea will put us right.

If I understand this correctly there are very few cars/tuners who can map through the OBDII port, most are realy just flashing(copying) a generic map on to the chip in the ECU. Early cars will not take the OBDii method and nust be flashed directly into the ECU.I.e. by removing it and plugging direct onto a laptop
