My priority next time is to get insurance that actually insures the modified parts. Not keen on a pricey big brake upgrade that Elephant won't actually replace with like.

Noel D quoted me £650 (£100 more than I am paying now) and this includes like for like replacement of parts. Adrian Flux wanted £1050. My mind is made up.
Roll on Wednesday when I get to Banbury :biggrin3:

Thanks for your help

Yep, like for like so you get second hand prices for your mods, which is fair.

So if you crunch your Miltek into a wall they will only give you secondhand value for it and not put a new one on the car to repair?

Really?

I must read the small print then - I'd understood "like for like" to mean replacement cost, so that (using Mark's example) if you had a shiney new Miltek fitted (whenever) then the insurance company would pay for a new one fitting, but if you fitted a second hand RS4 exhaust system (like I did), then they would only pay out what you paid for it.

Yep, like paying less out for cars as they get older.

That is how I would hope it works. It's like saying that before you crunched the wing 'say' it was second hand so off down the scrapy for a second hand wing to bolt on.

I know on wear items they will give money relating to amount of wear. 60K engine won't be replaced with a new one, 50% worn tire will get 50% value etc

In and around cost and recouping what sort of an impact will a chip have when it comes to swapping my S4 for an R8 :nodder:.
I appreciate that I won't get the value of the remap returned in the sale price. But will it make the car harder to sell? Can the remap be re-remapped and changed back to standard spec...?

Thanks
Mark
