Re: S4 buying tips?
Thanks Phil.
The 2nd example I listed (Black Avant) was from the Audi approved list.
As I said before, my own preference is for an Avant, and my fave colours are silver, black, ming blue, then nogaro blue (in roughly that order) - as long a it's not imola or green!
BTW, do you think it will be worth waiting until the new S4 starts to appear, as prices for the old model might drop further?
Cheers,
Andy

Re: S4 buying tips?
The Recaros are definatley worth having. There are V plate cars that are pre-facelift. The W plate car is listing the standard options. I would look at the V plater first.
If you don't like the black Recaro interior I'll swap for my Silk Nappa

BTW, what's the difference between Brilliant Black and Ebony Black?

Re: S4 buying tips?
Not sure but mine is Ebony Black.....I wanted a Ming Blue with Recaros....
There aren't that many around so I bought the closest match to my ideal.
I'm not sure that the new 4.2 V8 S4 is going to effect the value of the old car. Mainly because the B5 S4 has been out of production for 2-3 years.

Re: S4 buying tips?
Jeff,
Have you got black leather or silver leather?
I'm not sure if black with black leather is just too much!
I think ming blue with silver leather recaros would be a nice combo or my original choice of silver & black leather.
cheers,
andy

Re: S4 buying tips?
Silver leather (Silk Nappa).
The factory fitted options that I would look for in a 2nd hand S4 are
Recaro front seats
CD-Changer/Symphony
Sat-Nav (not sure about this one)
I would not be fussed with a sun roof.

Re: S4 buying tips?
Done quite a bit with it actually, Milltek Exhaust, APR Bipipe, KO 's, AmD Remap, RS4 Alloys, Tanoga, H&R Suspension, Porsche 993 brakes with one or two other "improvements" in the pipeline
Re: S4 buying tips?
Ebony Black is metallic and Brilliant Black is a solid colour. tjc's S3 is Ebony Black and she's a cracker.
Paul's S4 is gorgeous. He took tjc for a ride in it - and he was well impressed. I think that was one of the reasons that helped persuade him to let me venture into noggy blue RS2 territory! I'm not letting tjc near any RS4s or 6s though - the bank balance won't stand any more cars!

Re: S4 buying tips?
OK, I think the black/black combo is ruled out, esp. if it is the non-metallic black .
Paul, your car looks lovely. Unfortunately, it's not really what I'm looking for. Thanks anyway
Now, there is another car on the Audi site that looks promising:
AUDI S4 quattro AVANT FINISHED IN MING BLUE WITH SILVER LEATHER INTERIOR. SPECIFICATION INCLUDES ALLOY WHEELS, CENTRAL LOCKING, CLIMATE CONTROL, 6 DISC CD, COMPUTER, DRIVERS ARMREST, ELECTRIC SEATS, ELECTRIC WINDOWS, HEADLAMP WASH, XENON HEADLAMPS, RADIO/CASSETTE, SPLIT REAR SEAT, RECARO SPORT SEATS AND THROUGH LOAD FACILITY.
It's a 99 'V' with 40K miles. Asking price is £20,995
Any thoughts on the ming blue/silver leather colour combo. Sounds like it might be quite nice. Anyone got any pics ?
Also, what could I reasonably expect to get the price down to, given that I have sold my car and will be a cash buyer?
cheers,
Andy

Re: S4 buying tips?
Thats exactly the combination that I was looking for (except in a saloon).
You might be able to get them down to 20K but not a lot more than that I would think.

Re: S4 buying tips?
The silver w plate ... was that the one for sale at saline motors if so I have looked at it and thought it had a pretty hard life, looks as though it wasn't good enough to be dealer stock so was auctioned off to a privateer, and there was definately something not right with the gearbox/clutch. One to avoid me thinks!
Star Performance Misano Red RS4

Re: S4 buying tips?
Barry,
Yes, it was the one at Saline motors. It is still for sale four weeks from first appearing in Autotrader, so I guess they are having problems shifting it. You're right, it did looked a bit thrashed! The alloys were in poor condition, which I always think shows how well someone looks after their car.
Anyway, I think I had a near miss there - I almost bought the car 3 weeks ago! Probably going to stick with an approved used Audi for peace of mind.
Cheers,
Andy

Re: S4 buying tips?
Hi all,
I too have swicthed from a Scooby (Heavily Modified) to an S4. Mines a 'T' not sure if it is facelift but I cannot find a difference when compared with V's.
The S4 is much more refined and wills shortly be tuned...
Not sure which chip/re-map to go 4??? APR, MTM, AMD. REVO
