a tow dolly attaches to a tow ball and allows you to suspend the front of the car you're towing so you don't need a second driver

Don't forget that the mileage on the "friend provided MOT" could show that the car had not covered any miles in the 5 months prior to your planned plate transfer request date and the person selling the car does have the option of recording the cars mileage at the point of sale on the V5 registration docuement

Good call mate.. will need to make sure the V5 option isn't taken, i.e. won't lie about it, but will make sure the information is not recorded for the future purposes i require.

Apparantly the car was moved out of the barn today, brakes aren't seized and still engage ok.
Still not started but they are giving it a clean and having the battery changed so im hopeful they may get it to turn over. Had a guy contact me through ebay, asking if i want to sell the car to him for £500 or if i want to buy his SEC with good engine but bad bodywork (in comparison to mine) to act as a parts donor. £1500 he wants, at least i have the option but will still go with plan A until i see the car in person when i can re-evaluate the situation.

Got a quote today, transporting vehicle from door to door from cheltenham to birmingham for £184 all in.
Seems reasonable, have had no more luck with any of the other firms though yet. Need to get the car next weekend. All this for a plate, but the deal has been struck now, and im not one to backout of a deal.

technically it's not illigal to alter an odometer reading unless for the purpose of mis-representing the mileage. i would imagine winding a mileage forward under these circumstances would be viewed in the same light as if you'd given it a savage haircut.

Whoa.. who is talking about adjusting odomoeters here?
Im just going to leave the V5 blank where it says mileage, and ask the sellers to not return any mileage verification paperwork (as its optional i believe) and then so when my MOT goes through, the mileage (which i will put down as the real miles - not a made up figure) won't look out of sink, as the last MOT would have been done in 1996, therefore no electronic records from back then to compare to. Its done over 140k miles as it is, so that seems more then enough.

Pick it up this saturday, the owners have verified the wheels and brakes are not seized and car rolls. Car has failed to start, but all they have tried is to jump it, no actual battery change yet. Cars electronics are working, i.e. lights, interior aux fittings, stereo etc. Gearbox is not jammed either, can select N to push/tow the car, so should have no problems bringing the car home. Anyone think of anything else that maybe wrong with this car? its been standing since 1996, in dry covered conditions, it has been covered mostly and moved around every now and then push and towed never driven.

Covered 146k miles since new, One owner since new, no body work rust/damage whatsoever, Tyres still good, alloys not corroded. Im hoping i will be lucky here and can MOT is properly, but will only see when i get the damn thing.
