You've probaby missed the second ring that goes in the red projector box - open and close the curtains a few times and it will fall on the floor (you don't actually see it fall, it just appears there). Also the metal tube is well hidden between the pillow and the bedhead - tricky to get to it, but possible - us ethis on the red box too!

put both rings and the metal strip on the top of the red box, open it up and put the tape and battery inside and watch the show. Then follow the clues in a post further up this thread.
