Upgrade Satnav tv?

I downloaded and burned a CD a few months ago - the new software works fine - you can set detours now and it is higher resolution.

my sat nav hardware is also rns4.1 and software 0002.
i think this means i can upgrade although i have an aftermarket disk which says dx on it but do not get postcodes or compass.did you get yours working john if so what disk did you get. [img]images/graemlins/beerchug.gif[/img]

I have a number of DX disks now, and my sat nav+ does not do postcodes.

They maybe encoded to the disk, but it appears the Sat nav plus is incapable of choosing or selecting them.

closest it does is house numbers in odd/even batches.

I would be surprised if this were the case. The postcodes appear to be coded as additional cities. So, for instance, 'RG41' is an alternative to entering 'Wokingham'. The system only accepts partial postcodes (up to the space) - it doesn't go to street level codes.

One enhancement I would like to see is entry of OS map references - it would be much easier than entering Long & Lat (although I have knocked up a little program for converting OS references to Long/Lat).

didnt appreciate how to enter them, i assumed there would be another option box, like house numbers is.

BIG thankyou to NickM for downloading and installing the 15th Nov 2001 software upgrade tonite [img]images/graemlins/clap.gif[/img] [img]images/graemlins/clap.gif[/img] [img]images/graemlins/clap.gif[/img]. One interesting point came to light as my cd doesn't say DX anywhere on it, I got the compass and intermeadiate stop routing but not the 50m/0.005 mile resolution with the upgrade. So as Nicks hardware version is the same as mine we tried his 2001 DX cd in my car, this worked with no probs and the additional resolution. Looks like a 2004 TMC DX cd upgrade for my previously non DX sat nav is on the cards.

Nick, can you tell me where you downloaded the software from please, so I can make my own disk ?

Now for the silly question. Are the nav disks copyable...
I have noticed that my nav sometimes says no disc inserted (done it about 4 times now). It clears itself without me having to do anything but wonder if it is because of a few scratches on it.
The pc recognises it so wondered if I could copy it onto a new disk and see if it improves things.
Any thoughts ?

The TVWIZ.net site posted earlier in this thread gives details (as I recall) for downloading the Nov 2001 version and also for loading it. Is that what you followed, and does it work as posted, or are there any wrinkles to watch for? There's also a comment on the site to the effect that the author and Audi will all have a laugh if it goes wrong.

Appreciate any guidance as I'm very tempted to go for it.
