As it stands you won't get a CEL light.
If you get red of the main cats without a remap I thought you stood a good chance of getting a CEL? I recall some people reporting no CEL with no cats though. And can the engine run properly with no main cats without a remap as this will surely be outside of the normal adjustable parameters?
The lambda sensors just check the air flow. The first set are located pre pre cats and the second set are located after the pre cats. Therefore by removing the main cats this will not affect the second set of lambdas as the air flow will still be the same.

Hope that makes sense.

I went back to the Shop today and decided to leave it as it. Mainly because i'm loving the sound but also because I didn't want the trouble with the CEL.

However...

When I was driving back the CEL came on!!! I'm not sure why as the o2 locations are before and after the pre-cats so it shouldn't have made a difference? I think they had to put a new bung in after the pre-cat as the original mounting is actually on the main cat its self. A 90 degree elbow for the o2's was also added but I doubt this was actually necessary.

The code was P0161 (heater circuit) so i've cleared it and will keep an eye on it.

The only thing i can think of is that the wiring or the sensor might have been on its way out. I imagine the 90 degree elbow may have made the fitting awkward too.

By the way the parts removed weren't light, i've added some pictures;

Yeah they removed wrong cats...
I know why to be honest, they probably thought “F**k that, tooo hard, this will do”
Or probably snapped one of the studs and decided not to proceed further. I would suggest checking up on that as well. Just in case you are driving around with only 5 in place... ha ha.. but if you are happy with the sound! That’s the most important thing!

Haha he did say it would be a pain to redo it but was happy to if I wanted. Might do it at a later date maybe. They are putting it on the hoist at the weekend to check the wiring. Let's see what it looks like!
