Re: Is the RS4 B7 old hat
Took mine out today, the suspension will need re-doing soon but she pops and bangs and people still look at her. I was thinking today that, next to GT3s, Huracan Performante etc, there is nothing that I'd actually want to trade up to and the fact that I compare a £16k car to ones over £200k says a lot. I love the double de-clutching to ensure a smooth downshift and the fact that in sport mode you need to take more care with the throttle bite point when doing so. There was an earlier comment (I think from the OP) about it being retro and I tend to agree. I like that though, it's not trying to be a GTR (with an appalling interior) and is updatable with a new head unit or SC if you want. Look just how badly the Jag F-Type has aged, our RSs are the Vampires or the car world, they seemingly never get old. Mine is stock apart from a Milltek non-res which is an epic upgrade. I know they aren't worth too much anymore, mine has 60k miles on it now so why bother selling? I just love the start and the wait for the higher revs to drop back down from high idle, pops on the over-run etc. Yeah, they are great - always need to have one tucked away to remember what motoring is supposed to be about.

What's stopping you going for the FS Performance car?
Re: Is the RS4 B7 old hat
Hopefully! I hope he's familiar with rule 1 if he has.

Re: Is the RS4 B7 old hat
Well you can't have got it yet. If you had, you wouldn't have stopped driving it for anything other than fuel!

Re: Is the RS4 B7 old hat
Funnily enough I went from my B7 RS4 Avant to my current car, a Competition Pack F10 M5 with the M performance titanium exhaust system, (car sounds bloody brilliant with this).Regy53 wrote:Howdy all
I have owned two B7's before once in 2014 and once in 2015, the first with a milltek and second with a JCW weldfab, both cars had stage 2 by MRC
I have also since owned a RS6 C6, Audi A7 bi turbo black edition, A S8, and more recently a BMW m5 F10 twin turbo 4.4 v8
Its worth noting i do sell my cars often if i find a reason too, i started a business in 2014 and have justified all the sales for this reason, usually a summer purchase with a end of summer sale at not much cost but tops business account back up to levels needed
The problem is i find the f10 lacking, its a lovely car, drives so nice is insainly fast with the DMS remap i have done (720 bhp) it puts you on the edge of your seat when pushing but i just find the rest of the time it lacks, well anything.
no noise
no special looks
a lovely auto box but its all to easy
a bit bland all around
I find myself looking again at Audi RS4's this time a supercharged car. I have seen it this week and do not feel it has aged any, its not like other 2006 cars where the panels look like bricks, its still a lovely looking car as standard.
I remissness to the times i owned a RS4, if your driving fast or slow it has a presence about it, a noise that cannot be matched by any modern turbo cars, wide arches, bucket seats, a kind of retro feel without going back to the 80's etc etc.
My f10 is worth 30 odd K, a supercharged Rs4 7 years older is 25 odd k, am i mad? is it truly that wonderful drivers car that i remember. I can get out my m5 at a carpark and walk away, with my old RS4's you couldn't help but look back a few times?
how have you guys found the RS4 when comparing to more modern cars? has anybody had the same as me?
I don't miss the RS4 because I find the M5 CP so much better in every area and to top it off I'm finding the M5 is cheaper to run too.
However, I found the RS4 more visceral to drive and although I personally wouldn't go back to one I will always recommend one to anyone thinking of getting one because a good example will still look good with those flared arches , is fun to drive, feel very special when sat in it (if you've got the FBSW and wing back seats).
On top of that it is one of the most iconic cars out there.
One thing I won't miss is not having not near enough grunt to see off the tail gating and annoying Golf R or M 135i brigade etc lol
Still, defo one of the best cars I've been fortunate enough to own.
