Re: Launch Control Programme - FYI
Now that I have stopped laughing at the latest posts:-
You can see below I don't have a S3 or C7 S6. In fact I don't have wife as I'm a widower! My partner has a hot (courtesy of DMS) Mini Cooper S which she loves.
I have a 2016, C7 RS6 Performance, so it would appear that the manual it comes with has been updated and so perhaps the addition of what Audi states is a Launch Control Program is relatively new.
In answer to the question; the revs hold at around 2000 rpm.

Re: Launch Control Programme - FYI
Just out of interest, what handbook did you get with your car?
I havae a 2016 RS6 Performace and dont think i have that section in my handbook but it is a dedicated RS6 / RS6 Performance book. I note that Wrekka, who collected his car after mine, only got a generic A6 book not the proper RS6 book.

Re: Launch Control Programme - FYI
I have taken a closer look at the owner's manual of my RS6 Performance (delivered Dec., 2016) and see it is titled "Owner's Manual A6, so it's just generic (see photos). It had occurred to me that perhaps the manual had been updated. I have attached photos of the relevant pages too.
Of course, what ever it says, if the procedure described above works and the brake holds the revs at 2-3,000 and they don't climb ever higher, then a (launch) control programme is operating and (again as I said above) the proof of the pudding is in the launching /eating.
(see 3 photos in my next post)

Re: Launch Control Programme - FYI
It's just holding it against the brake as discussed before, with slightly favourable traction control. A car with proper launch will hold much higher revs.

Post by Eddie555 » 22 May, 2017 - 14:09 " applies to vehicles with S-tronic gearbox" The RS6 has a tiptronic gearbox.
This hadn't escaped my attention, but not certain how much credence to give that. Is the Owner's Manual - presumably written in German, then translated into various languages - an infallible manual? Does it say definitively that in the RS6, "Launch Control Program" does not apply / does not involve a programmed set up? Can it be the case that the same procedure in a S-tronic gear box results in a launch control PROGRAMME, but in an automatic gearbox its a NON-PROGAMMED launch control. For those that try it, like me, you will likely find that the "launch" isn't the same if you don't follow all the steps and significantly the revs will rise to the red line/limiter, rather than change up optimally (earlier for example in the first couple of gears than in higher gear) if you don't launch in a straight line/continue dead ahead. That implies to me a significant amount of PROGRAMMING, particularly, if indeed, the number of such launches is being stored by the car (is there definitely a limit of 200 and is that just during its 3 year warranty?).
How best to get a definitive answer on this? on a different subject, I was advised by my dealership's parts department to ring Audi UK and talk to their Technical Department. I rang Audi Uk and they told me they don't have a technical department in the UK!
Looks like we might have to have vote on this. Shall we make it the 8th of June?
P.S. Eddie555 and doodlebug ("Doh!" doesn't take anything any further), have you tried using the "Launch Control Program/non-Programme"?

Re: Launch Control Programme - FYI
The RS4 definitely has a launch counter. I tried looking for one on the rs6 but couldn't find it.
Re: Launch Control Programme - FYI
Harrier. When I had my RS6 after I had owned a S5 cab. One of the first things I did on the night of 01/03/2015 (RS6 collecting day) was RTFM. The thing I searched through the manual for was the "launch program". When I had the S5 I used to "Launch"it all the time just for fun and during the day of 01/03/15 I had been trying to see if the RS6 would launch the same. And because it wouldn't is why I was reading the manual to find out "how to". Now it's evident that it didn't have it.
Harrier it appears you don't understand how the launch sequence works. On the S-tronic gearboxes the launch sequence is controlled electronically to release the clutches as and when. There is no need to hold the car on the brakes as such. It's a electronic signal, Ie as long as there is sufficient pressure to switch on the brake lights that's enough and then when you floor the accelerator there is no feeling of the car wanting to move, it will just rev up to 2-3000 rpm and stay in position until the brake is realeased. I've tested this yesterday on my A3 TDi 2.0 s-tronic.
Now in the RS6 it is a full blown automatic gearbox which has no manual clutch. It has a Torque converter which is attached to the engine this cannot be controlled via electronics. So although it seems you are launching what you are actually doing is holding the car from moving using your brakes " mechanically".
Answer me this. How much pressure are you applying on your brake pedal? Foot as hard down as poss? Well if it had launch it would be possible to press the brakes with your little toe and it would work.
