Thinking about a performance edition
Re: Thinking about a performance edition
It always makes me chuckle every time this sort of question comes up. Why would you ask RS4 or RS6 ??? Totally different.
For me and only me RS4 too small and too slow simple as that. I want/need the space and the option to add silly power.
Unless you track it why would you need to know how it handles. Most roads round here are just full of traffic.
Get the RS6 performance. Bid , Bad and Fast ( Big thumbs up )

Re: Thinking about a performance edition
I don't think he asked RS4 or RS6, he just asked how the 6 handled. I compared to the B7 as I know we both know how that drives for comparison. I considered the B8 when I was looking at the C7 as they are both big enough for me and the B8 is still a quick car and could keep up with a C7 through the twisties (but not on the straights). To me it was down to the fact the C7 looked more aggressive, had more tuning potential and I couldn't order a new B8 anymore and the ones available were not the spec I wanted.skirs6 wrote:It always makes me chuckle every time this sort of question comes up. And I don't think the question of how it handles is a silly one either even if you don't track it.... after owning an RS4 it is an obvious question as the RS4 is great fun to own and drive mainly down to the handling so I think it is natural to want a similar experience from the next car. Unfortunately, the handling side is not as fun but it more than makes up for it in other ways.
Re: Thinking about a performance edition
I'm in no rush ATM.. it's either a c7 or wait for the next rs4.. my question is what do they handle like when pushed hard??
And any negative day to day things I need to know about??
Cheers lads RIV[/quote]
To me that sounds like C7 or RS4 ??

Re: Thinking about a performance edition
Ha ha, i forgot about that bit. It's been over a day since I read the 1st post.
My point still stands though, it's the obvious question when considering a C7 as it's probably it's worst point and main reason to consider an RS4 over the RS6, and a big drawback coming from a B7 or B8. It's all about perspective though; coming from a C6 then the handling is one of the C7s plus points.

Re: Thinking about a performance edition
Just been out in a nardo grey c7.. it's for sale in Ripley, got talking to the owner while getting petrol, his car is MRC'd up to 805 omg all I can say is god it's quick!!!
MRC reckon it's 2.7 to 60

Re: Thinking about a performance edition
Was it a Performance?
Re: Thinking about a performance edition
No.. but the previous owner had spent loads on mods.. still shocked at the power.. big WANT!!Was it a Performance?
It's for sale on pistonheads i think for silly money..
Re: Thinking about a performance edition
Yes that is ridiculous money. I paid 11k less than that for mine brand new. And I can't see parking cameras or ACC on it, and it looks like it didn't have a sport exhaust from factory; so without any details in the advert it looks a bit of a poverty spec car. But it says they spent 40k on it to get the 805ps. You could buy a brand new higher spec Performance RS6, spend 3k on a full Milltek and 1.5k on an MRC map and have 750ps and still save £7.5k. And ony be 50ps less than that car.

Yeh that's right Mike.. I think the story is after going in that it's made me want one. The milly on overrun sounded like machine gun fireYes that is ridiculous money. Re: Thinking about a performance edition
If anything charging a B7 makes even less sense now that the kit and mapping etc will cost as much as the car.Paddski wrote:Doesn't anybody consider supercharging the B7 anymore these days? Still over priced ! I heard MRC are working on a Turbo/Twin Turbo project for the B7 currently.....
I am interested to see how MRC get on with the worst kept secret in tuning. I spoke to Doug several times about turbos on the V8 and he was insistent that although potentially possible it was prohibitively expensive and there wasn't a guarantee they'd get to 700bhp reliably. He said their R8 was almost undriveable at high boost, the twin supercharger route was a lot more manageable and reliable.

Agreed, it's 'dreamer' money. £90k for that, or £65k for this: http://www.rsdirectbristol.co.uk/sales_ ... i-A6-U557/ I know where my money would go.MikeFish wrote:Yes that is ridiculous money.

Re: Thinking about a performance edition
Just a quick one from me....
Keep hearing about how big and awkward the 6 is??
Think a few need to hand there "man card" in....it is a big old bus, but if you can't manoeuvre it no matter how big the car is or small the car park is you are gay...end of.
I expect this type of talk from a splitarse..NOT RS enthusiasts.
Rant over
As you where....
