But the only main fails for these are the oil pump seal and the coolant pipes, both of which arent covered... and if you plan on visiting MRC then it'll be void and black flagged anyway.

As others have said just keep a decent sized war chest, if something major goes wrong then cross that bridge, but for the most part these are good strong engines and with the exclusion list looking like that id pass on the warranty but each to there own.. i change my own spark plugs to avoid audi prices.

With regards the oil seal the warranty only covers them if the engine or gearbox need to be removed to fix them (which for the seals it does I believe?)

Correct it does yes, oil seal replacement comes at around £1900 and lots of other parts are replaced as well (unit 20)

This would be void if you tuned the car anyway, for me i've had it a year, its gave me no bother at all with anything.. overall ownership is 2yrs Audi warranty was £1100 & £1400 for the two years so by not paying that and spending it on a stage 2 remap and fixing the oil seals.
I'm really only out of pocket £400-500 which is something i can live with.

2 year ownership? I've only had the beast a few months and am still getting used to the staggering running costs (although I went into this with eyes wide open after taking all the great advice on here), trouble is what do you replace it with? I generally keep my cars for 2 years but I have zero idea what's next. C7 RS6s are still very expensive (cheapest one starts around £50k) but am struggling to think of any car that manages to cover so many bases as well. Apart from economy of course

1yrs of ownership has cost me about £8500 including this oil leak fix thats pending. (i had another RS6 before this one both C6's so i class my ownership as 2yrs even though its a 1yr per car)

Tyres £1000 i'm on my second set, Brake kit for the front £2500, wheel bearings and suspension kit £650, copious services and plug changes £600, Gearbox fluid change £250
Rear brake setup £1000.. probably other stuff too!

Before my ownership there was the £1500 remap and £1300 milltek... so there's been over 10k spent on her in the last 18 months... but as well as the things done in my signature.
Its well specced,
Elec steering column
Solar sunroof
Blinds
Soft close
Adaptive cruise
Carbon engine covers
Phone handset in arm rest
3Gmmi
TV/DAB
passamger seat memory
high beam assist

And its 730bhp and nearly 800ib/ft so where do you go from that? its a spacious comfortable barge that eats the motorway with east, its also faster than most cars out there and barring its woeful mpg figures it ticks all the boxes of a perfect all rounder.

But yes i agree, they are VERY expensive to maintain, servicing and plugs are easy enough... but things like tyres and brakes and gearbox oil changes are horrendous.
You'll be fine, they are strong cars and mine has has PLENTY of abuse as has Ians and they are still going strong!

Ok just to wrap the thread up I decided to continue the warranty. Max'd out on the excess at £250.00 and went for comprehensive at less than 15k a year (for 10k a year was only a few quid cheaper) with no roadside assistance. All told came to £1672.70. Paying monthly comes to £139.38. When it gets the MRC Magic in the near future then I'll probably drop it and go for the war chest option hence paying monthly.
