I was going to say the same. Yes i'm sure the uplift will make the car more exciting & obviously quicker, but not sure i'd agree with it being 'much needed'.

Curious as to who's mapping it?
As much as I would love to tell you I don't want to start a huge debate about money, rolling roads, reputation, I wound trust him etc etc etc that gets old real quick

Leo-RS wrote:I come from an F10 aswell Paul and it was only ever quicker like for like with the RS6 above 100mph. Below that, the RS6 was quite a bit quicker especially off the line. I guess if your test is an 80-140mph test then the M5 would be slightly quicker. 4wd losses means less effective power. You just need to look at the F10's standard 1/4m figures, 11.9 vs 11.3 in the RS6

You need a vbox rather than a stretch of road and a speedometer reading
Using like for like the C7 RS6 sits at 11.6 for the 1/4 mile, not 11.3 so the difference between the M5 & the RS6 is only .3secs. I'd hazard a guess both cars could achieve better results dependant on conditions & drivers, but purely using fastestlaps times for the 2 cars that's what they quote with the same trap speed. 0-62 is quoted as 3.9 for the F10 M5 & 3.5 for the RS6.

Paul, i don't think anyone cares who you're using from a negative perspective. We're all grown ups so genuinely interested as to who you're using? It's either going to be an established player such as MRC/Revo/DMS or the like or perhaps an unheard of which would likely be interesting to hear about.

I doubt anyone cares what you're spending & i'm sure the results your chosen tuner quotes (assuming they're reputable) will hit the mark. I do agree however that opinions are like arseholes as everyone has one.

Enjoy the uplift & please do tell us how you get on??

if only that were true, and you right it should be the case that no-one cares what I or others do but more the results and gaining knowledge. I am not forcing anyone to following me. I am more than happy discussing my findings but defending my decision all the time, gets old quickly. I do what I do because I can, I love playing and I want to.

Wow lot of "I" in that paragraph lol

your quote from another post below, don't worry you are not the only one

Paul, i'd not criticise anyone for being shrewd & saving money & i'd in every area of purchasing avoid paying over the odds, however sticking a cheap generic remap on an £80k car is far from being shrewd. If you know someone who'll do you a custom Stage 2 tune on your C7 RS6 for £300 then i'd imagine many will want to know about it, however in this arena i'm afraid in the norm cost = quality, assurance, reputation & warranty so i'd be spending my money with the company that offers all of this, pretty much regardless of cost. Banging some low quality generic code onto a C7 RS6 is not a very smart move, however although you'll not have got a great product i doubt it would cause any lasting damage to the car.

As regards the remap on your GT-R, had it not already been mapped during earlier upgrades & as such you just received a revised file for the hybrid turbos so you're overall mapping costs would have been higher? Do you use Cobb or Ecutek?

As above, saving money is of course a good thing, but i'd be very careful where you apply that logic & firing a generic £300 map on a car as complex as the C7 RS6 would in my opinion not be a wise move given the cars complexities & variances. The GT-T in comparison (ECU wise) is nowhere near as complex & doesn't have the same variances.

I will be doing my own remap (well the guy who does my files will). I have been doing this for around 10 years on my own cars and friends etc (don't make money out of it as I don't need to) saved me a fortune considering I change my cars every 5 mins lol and had loads of fun into the bargain.

fingers crossed I will get it done tomorrow, hurt my back on Thursday and somehow managed to get man flu into the bargain. been a <beep> few days

Yeah, it's bollocks out here

You're right, the RS6 2nd hand parts market is pretty much non existent, from time to time you'll get something that comes up but you could be waiting forever.

The 2.75'' downpipes are pretty cheap to be fair, speak to Glen at Revolution, they have a sponsorship section on site. I got the catless downpipes and mid/link pipes for £620 delivered as part of the Black Friday Deals. Not sure how much they cost normally but £750 seems to ring some bells. If needs be, that's all you need for the power gains, you can mate this up with the standard rear section with a reducer. The downpipes are a pain in the arse to fit with the sub frame needing removed but I know you're handy with the spanners and you have access to a ramp so will be no probs for you

now I have a 2 post ramp it will be easy enough. The final straw was removing the GTR engine with my 4 post ramp NIGHTMARE as you need to drop the engine out the bottom., in other words lift the body off the engine.

kind of given up looking second hand, like you say not much out there. I did speak to them on Friday but they have not got back to me with a price.
