RS6 build slots?
Re: RS6 build slots?
Hi...I am new to the forum. Found my way here as I am test driving an RS6 tomorrow.
Regarding the OP's question the dealer I am going to has a build slot that would get me a car by end of March (or so he said last weekend!). They had quite a few build slots in the system...to quote him "our management really like RS6's"! I am not sure I am going to be ready to order right away so OP I might be able to point you in the right direction early next week.

Re: RS6 build slots?
You going for the performance version?
Re: RS6 build slots?
Oh and post number 1, so welcome and FON.
Re: RS6 build slots?
Thanks and no I think I'll be going with the standard car.MikeFish wrote:Oh and post number 1, so welcome and FON.
Although the man math's says 21" wheels, sports exhaust would both be options I would be ordering already so that's half way to the Performance Edition already!
Re: RS6 build slots?
Indeed, throw in the privacy glass and some optics and you are almost there.

Privacy glass is on the list too.....MikeFish wrote:Indeed, throw in the privacy glass and some optics and you are almost there.

I think your dealer might be telling porky pies. I say this as I have had a specialist replacement car company trying all around the country to get me either a standard or PE RS6 and he couldn't get one before end of April delivery. Hence why my insurance company have now fully settled in a cash payment and I've been topped up by GAP insurance to full invoice value.

Re: RS6 build slots?
I think your specialist car company may be the one stretching the truth. When I bought mine at the end of Sept I was showed a number of build slots (not all open to spec change) over the next 4-5 months. Indeed my own car was last minute having been quoted February/march by other dealers.
I suppose those slots may have been sold in the lead up to Christmas but some dealers do seem to have regular orders in they can tweak to suit customer up until last minute. Quite why your firm couldn't turn one of these up I don't know. I found mine at the second garage I went to.

Re: RS6 build slots?
Same here MarkP. It was pretty straightforward at the end of last year, to find a dealer slot that was spec-changeable.
Re: RS6 build slots?
TBF. It was in their best interests to find me a car before 12 weeks cause they work as a third party for my insurance company. Now that they haven't been able to sort this out they've lost the business.

RS6 build slots?
The thing is 'build slot' means fook all until you have spec'd the car and the factory have confirmed it all. Until then it's all smoke, mirrors and dealer BS.
The only exception is dealer ordered cars where you take whatever spec they've lobbed in. Even then until the build is locked the build week is subject to change. Anything else is subject to change based on spec. Build week could go back weeks or months.

Re: RS6 build slots?
Thanks Cheib. Lots of conflicting news out there. Am talking to the brokers but also some of the good dealers such a Tetbury. One thing is for sure, there are going to be loads of RS6s out there this year.Cheib wrote:Hi...I am new to the forum. Found my way here as I am test driving an RS6 tomorrow.

Re: RS6 build slots?
Totally agree with you doodle. I'm sure we all remember what happened last year with that door handle factory fire and it delayed quite a few builds and set back delivery for quite a few people. Nothing is ever certain until the fat lady sings.doodlebug wrote:The thing is 'build slot' means fook all until you have spec'd the car and the factory have confirmed it all. Re: RS6 build slots?
Maybe they are bullshitting me but I saw all the build slots on the screen, they have another for April (week 15). Last week they had a black RS6 in the showroom that was sold and has been replaced by a Mystic Blue RS6 which looks stunning. Has the Ceramics, Carbon Pack and B&O which is quite some spec! Dealers that order car specced like that for stock would likely be able to shift cars so maybe they do have build slots!?
Anyway I am not going to be ready to order in time to spec that car so if the OP is interested PM me.
Great car...really, really impressed with it. Christ on a bike it can shift.....also managed to try it out down some nice country roads near where I live. It might not be "nimble" but it handles bloody well for a big car and on what was a wet day the grip was very impressive.
