That car, pre accident, was probably worth what ? circa 50k?. Insurance companies will generally write a car off if the repair is around 60%(?) value or greater, so that means the repair cost was >£30k ! That must've been some damage
I suspect you could replace every panel and suspension component for £30k, so that must've had some new structural bits.

Unless, and I might be wrong on this ; If a car was stolen and the insured owner was paid off, and the car later turned up and given to the insurance company. If they sold it back into the market, would it then be a car D ?

50k!? A two year old non cat D 2013 RS4 with 34,000 miles would barely trade at £34,995. 2013s have sold on here with half that mileage for under 40k. That Cat D is definitely steep when you can get a straight one with less miles for a grand or two more.

Ok, maybe not 50, but remember that's a £70k car with ceramics, buckets, pano roof etc, so it's probably be worth mid 40's if not smashed

Thing is, do people really spend this sort of money on cat d's? Ive never bought one but it amazes me to think there is any market really. Dunno, probably just me

I wouldn't, not on a car with any value
If I was looking at, say a £10k car, then maybe, and assuming I knew the repair and pre crash condition, then just maybe
You'd want a sizeable discount though, as it'll be bugger to sell on, and I doubt any trader would take it off your hands either

That must be 70+ as mine's a very similar spec without the buckets, speed limiter removal and what I can see as rear heated seats, and mine was £69k list

No i don't think so - I think it's had the suspension on that side rammed back an inch IMO. I'd like to see how it tracks up. Not that'd I'd buy it anyway!
