Remember meeting a convoy at South Mimms last year on the way to the Milbrook where a couple of forum guys were talking about how they managed to hit an indicated 300 km/h on the way up from Essex with full MRC'd cars. There onwards wasn't exactly a slow convoy either

That was nice and empty, but I never feel quite comfortable doing these things when there's only 2 lanes. The bigger ones with 3 are much better as there's less risk (and a better view) of anything showing up in your lane unexpectedly.

That was nice and empty, but I never feel quite comfortable doing these things when there's only 2 lanes. The bigger ones with 3 are much better as there's less risk (and a better view) of anything showing up in your lane unexpectedly.

totally agree with you after that run, what the video didn't show (i do have it though on my gopro) is the part where i came up on a van behind a caravan and he indicated and started to move into my lane when i was over 170, luckily he took a double take and quickly went back in behind the caravan because looking at the footage i was 4 seconds from overtaking and i was never stopping. that was a pretty scary moment so i would agree that doing this with a lane spare is the way to do it

Must've been a German. They've been conditioned to look out for really really fast stuff before venturing into in the left lane. It takes some attention to spot a fast moving car that far back in a mirror. Had the bloke in the van been Dutch you'd have had a proper crash.

yeah exactly!, i had made sure i had my headlights on too even though it was daylight - maybe that helped but i wont be trying it again that's for sure

178 GPS (180ish speedo) on my MRC stage 2 B7. And that's with a good gps - not a tomtom/iphone.

I've been saying a stage 2 MRC felt to me like it would get to 180 due to the way mine pulls up hill at 160 (i.e. really strongly). I got bashed and told I have no idea what I was talking about (on here too unfortunately).

Nope it definitely does it. I've done it a few times and although it's still slowly pulling it's running out of puff (and I'm running out of testicles) at that point. It'd probably do 182-185mph if you kept your foot in and had the road to do it on.

Done last Friday outside of Berlin on the way home. I did squeez 193 mph out but had to put the camera down as the road gets a bit bendy at that speed.
