Didn't think it would be. I'm waiting for Gary to call me back to book a service and I was wondering if a little bit of light ribbing might be in orderAdrianD wrote:No where near Truro Pete...
Thankfully I have upgraded to the Viper alarm so also have an exterior proximity sensor as well as a decent volume sirenadsgreen wrote:Have you heard "the alarm"?

It wouldn't bother me massively to have a lost key out there once I knew it only gave access to the car however I do have a bit of doubt in what they are saying to you. Yes the locks are "known" to Audi so you can order a new key cut without having a key but that is about it - the immobiliser certainly doesn't need changing. If you do have the locks changed I would make sure you have 3 keys as getting a copy will be a little more complex in the future but given they can add/eliminate keys from the alarm & immo I don't see what part of the car's "identity" would be lost apart from possibly the Audi cross-reference to the physical blade shape.AdrianD wrote:So after speaking to Audi changing the entire set of locks isn't 100% straight forward as it effectively changes the entire identity of the car... They recommended just replacing the key and reprogramming the old key out... yes they can still enter the car physically with the key but then again they can do that by smashing a window i suppose...
I've had the key removed by Audi, there are no other live keys out there able to start it...Mr V10 wrote:Insurance companies are now very sensitive about keys, my customer's RS 5 was stolen without the keys and both keys had to be checked including any history of coding/loss from Audi's internal system was requested before payout. If there is still an 'active' key out there, it could cause issues. Audi's system records how many paired keys the car has as far as I'm aware.
...and now everyone knows!?!? That was my point, I wasn't trying to be tricksey or anything.AdrianD wrote:And your point is?
