Welcome, both look reasonable examples from the pictures but nothing beats seeing them in person to see how they really stack up.

A few observations below

Blue one:
  • Privacy glass? - Looks like normal glass to me.
Carbon inlays? - I see matt aluminium items
Bose upgrade? - Bose is standard on RS4's
Silver one:
  • Black Optics? - No it hasn't, just a black grille & body coloured boot lid strip. Genuine optics (saloon) includes gloss black grille, matt black window surrounds, black tail pipes and a body coloured boot lid strip.
Adaptive Lights? - Check this. The option came as part of the Tech pack on pre facelift cars, on post facelift is was a paid for option that wasn't often spec'd. Most people assume on post face lifted cars that the option is there when they see the Sat Nav.
Neither cars have the Auto lights, Auto wipers and Auto dimming rear view mirror option. It bugged me a lot when looking for cars that many didn't have this basic £200 option. It's expensive and involved to retrofit. Both are around the right millage for requiring a 2nd set of front brake discs.
Sepang Blue B8 RS4, MY14, All option packs, B&O, Adv Key, Adapt Cruise, Pan Roof, Akrapovic Titanium Exhaust, + more.

+1. It would've bugged the hell out of me if I hadn't found one with these features - especially coming from my previous car which did have these features. Along with Adaptive lights too...

I made the same choice a year or so ago and ended up going with the Insignia as it was newer and warranty etc. Just getting a bit fed up with it, normal vauxhall issues with things breaking and needed fixing and build quality in general. Had a full exhaust system and remap to help, but still getting fed up lol.

Thanks Sam, some good points I need to look at, the silver has had new discs and pads all round.

lee_spowart wrote:Thanks again. Did see it in your signature thought maybe you were being greedy and having two, PR maybe looking to swap for another one. Must admit I've always preferred the blue, but the silver has more kit and looks good with the black optics.

Would look around at exhausts but I have some experience with milltek and never had any issues and loved the noise previously, obviously on a different car.
You can never have enough RS4! I'd love two but that indeed would be greedy! Sam will tell you all about greedy though! :bigblink:

Looking at the silver, it's very similar to the way mine was presented in the initial advert. Low miles, clean, bolster looks good condition etc. I really wanted Phantom black, but mine came up and the spec was spot on with SS+, NAV, adaptive/rain and light sensing etc and the interior was frankly mint...

Colour for me was a little further down the list over spec and condition etc... within reason.

Ownership on these will never be cheap. New discs, pads and sensors all round is pushing £1,500+ parts. I;d check oil cooler and any issues but on a whole it looks tidy...

Silver Saloon for the win! viewtopic.php?f=35&t=110744

I need to check the specs after the last post, some good points made there. General costs are ok, its £1500+ for front discs on my insignia so used to those kind of costs.

It's a bit cheeky, but if they want a sale, can they provide you with a photo of the build sticker found on the inside of the service book? If so, decode the spec yourself: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=90473&p=636440&hil ... eb#p636440

But could also be ordered separately, like I did - when I ordered the Tech Pack wasn't even on the price list (it got added later in 2006).

The vac test - I discovered on mine the lower air box flap not working. I didn'tt want to do a CAF so I replaced this. Vac performance is partly key to the RS4 running well.

My DRC was 'supposedly sorted when I bought mine form the independent - I had it in to Audi Camberley and they diagnosed the front DRC leaking - switched them and I swiftly claimed in the indie's warranty. If you do get one, get it in to Audi or alike (MRC/UNIT20 etc) to health check - you have a way of diagnosing and leaning on any warranty if you donut see any issues at the test drive.

No, not after a RS - look at my signature - I have one! Silver - and that's why I'm biased! http://youtu.be/y_k0VJ2--y8 :bigblink:
Did somebody mention donuts? :D

Considering B7 RS4 eh?

Well lots of good technical advice precedes this post, non of which I can better, all of which I agree with. All I can add is that once you have your own B7 RS4, you will never ever want a 'normal' car again. You will look back at your VXR and ask yourself 'What was I thinking!!!'. Buy a good one, get it down to MRC for a de-coke / de-flap and Stage 2 and then spend the rest of your time with the car grinning like a lunatic and wondering what the hell to do when the day finally comes when you have to part company with it. They are utterly addictive.

mak.

Edited to say I got mine from Fontain motors - they do know a thing or two about RS's...
2013 Guards Red 991 Carrera - VERY MUCH Arrived.
2013 Ibis White RS4 B8 - Gone :)
2007 Phantom Black Avant RS4 B7 - Gone :(

Hi mak

Thanks for that, I think the problem was I chose the insignia with my head even though I wanted the rs4, that and the wife telling me not to buy a 7 year old car.

The insignia is a good car, has all the toys, including nearly every option and now has 370bhp so is not slow, but still find myself looking on autotrader and the like at rs4's
