I think I need to hit a track to get it out of my system as I find myself doing some slightly silly things at times... Will def keep an eye open on track days somewhere near SE England.sonny wrote:As I take my car on track and the Ring, I get to push my car to the limits, so have got it out of my system. If you have not done it before then Bedford is a good starting point.gangstarrrrr wrote:I think I need to hit a track to get it out of my system as I find myself doing some slightly silly things at times... Re: How do you 'exercise' your car?
Silverstone (if somewhat expensive) is good too as the run off is epic and the facilities great. Amazing fun with 4wd in the wet too (shitty horrible in rwd)
Re: How do you 'exercise' your car?
But hard in the car esp a heavy one such as the 4 or 6. But def worth it for the experience. I would not go to Silverstone again though, think there are better tracks with better elevation changes
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

Brands is good but I suggested Bedford as safer for a first timersonny wrote:But hard in the car esp a heavy one such as the 4 or 6. But def worth it for the experience. I would not go to Silverstone again though, think there are better tracks with better elevation changes

Re: How do you 'exercise' your car?
+1. Bedford is nice and safe but quite dull.
Silverstone is great as it's about the fastest you'll go on a uk track but yes, it is hard on the car.
Brands is great (if you can navigate the fecking pit tunnel) and even though the indy circuit is very short with few bends, each one is a joy to drive. Although paddock is bloody scary to begin with... blind apex and braking point, off camber transition to downhill with not much run off...
Oulton is a goo compromise - a few places that can bend the car if you are not paying attention but overal a good nice mix.
An airfield day can be good to start with but beware stone chips but it's not the same as a proper circuit.

Re: How do you 'exercise' your car?
450 ish bhp/ton, open cockpit + wet silverstone = fecking miserable.535dboy wrote:Agreed, particularly a light rear wheel drive car!adsgreen wrote:Amazing fun with 4wd in the wet too (shitty horrible in rwd)
Mind you I did realise half way through I'd left the car in a dry setup. Softened everything off and it went from miserable to bloody frustrating.

This sounds like a good plan. Will keep an eye on track days at Bedford come April (when the winter boots come off!).535dboy wrote:Brands is good but I suggested Bedford as safer for a first timersonny wrote:But hard in the car esp a heavy one such as the 4 or 6. Would be good if we could get some fellow rs246 members out there as well.

Good idea to organise an rs246 track day!gangstarrrrr wrote:This sounds like a good plan. Re: How do you 'exercise' your car?
If you do, look for one on the full GT circuit, big back straight with nice s bend at the end of it
Maybe also look for ones at blyton park, I've not done it yet but understand it to be similar to Bedford for 'safety'

M6 Toll is a perfect road for putting your foot down. I have seen a few unmarked police cars (all Jaguar XF). But it's rare.
Current Car: 2014 Nissan Quashqai 4WD (it's not my fault)
