[quoteI dont have a scanner, but i got on the 320.5 BHP at the wheels , which apparently equates to 440 at the flywheel.
And a torque figure of 417lb ft not sure but 583Nm i think?
I had a trouble with the clutch on the way home, i think its got glazed... but hey on the day that what i got.
I would like to go back ina couple of months time again an see if a new clutch and flywheel will make any difference.
Cheers
jr
I think we need to go for 30% transmission loss on our cars

so ireckon you should have 430lb ft torque which is approx 602Nm

power is also around 458bhp at the wheel, which is where it should be.

Tanoga is the most impressive 580Nm of torque and 480bhp

Great day out

I thought this might be relevant considering the data that this rolling road day generated.

I remember a post on AS.net where someone asked what is the optimium point to change gear.

If you can plot your tractive force on the road for every gear and overlay them onto the same graph (with consistent units), the point to change gear is where the lines cross. Performance bikes magazine does this during new bike tests and it tells you which gear (at a given revs) is producing the greatest tractive effort on the road. PB magazine does this through calculation of gear ratios and assumes the same loss percentage in every gear. This is not a bad approximation.

So, using tractive effort in a given gear generate some new lines by using the Audi gear ratio data and then determine optimum change points in every gear. Simple.

Lee

ps looks like a top rolling road. Have to go there when I get mine re-mapped

Well i asked the guy there, he said you cant determine it from the rolling road

What they do on the race cars is on the track using a g sensor.

So you have things that effect the gear change point, camber, gradient and wind etc, this means you need to hit the torque curve at different points.

Apparently after one lap they can work this out and adjust the drivers gear change point, which on a track may be different on every corner!

Which makes sense to me

I have a racetech AP22 which measures G so maybe i will start using it to see how i can work ou when to change

Thanks for the technical input though Lee

I found the whole thing a real learning experience

Hi Boys

A good day out , just a little cold. It was good meeting you all.

It was a shame mine was the only S3 on the rolling road, I think it was a good idea not to run the other cars by removing the haldex fuse and I should know.

O.K. so do we use G-force 27% or Amd 30% transmission losses.

G-force 296bhp /363lbs
AmD 305bhp /376lbs

I am happy with the results

These guys are really optimising for every single point on the lap on every racetrack (they have to) but it is probably a good rule of thumb for a driver on roads/trackdays.

My head says the GForce way is accurate
My heart says the AmD way is accurate

Like Steve says, as long as your happy, both are right

Good results guys, can't wait for the next one

will be interesting when i go back to interpro when my car was
standard 371bhp,326lb/ft
stage 1 404bhp,402lb/ft(550nm which is what q/sports
claims)
stage 2 ??

can check readings of G Force against interpro's stage 2

when done as interpro's rollers "standard" reading is similar to what audi claim

Probably the best way Steve, comparing mods against a known baseline for standard

What was the Australian Technicians name again???

Im thinking of emailing him, as he was interested in "getting a S3 in" to try and get over problem with the Haldex... maybe with more time , they can get a 4x4 reading..... and im only an hour away, so if they want to try again with mine....

i really want a graph fom them!

Th guys name was Chris

I think we will need to organise another day there

However I spoke to Chris yesterday and thanked him for a great day, he suggested bringing a standard RS4 (or whatever model) and putting that on first, then using Audi's base line we can get a more accurate power loss

So if the 380bhp as standard gives 266 at the wheels we shall know the loss is 30%, Its a shame thorney couldnt make it

Maybe next time

BEtter be quick though before he mods it

Aint many standard ones left

Paul,

if you can get your car on the rollers at G-Force as a trial, then definitely go for it. Spoke with Revo yesterday, and they said it is possible to rolling road the S3/TT in 4x4 mode but it is down to the way you strap the car down. Difficult but possible.

Personally I'm going to wait for Kim Collins' rolling road.

I thought it was a good idea, but quite expensive

However having seen how an S3 can loose traction maybe it would be a good idea

Shame it is not hot swapable so you could get one for the rolling road day
