Just had mine into Espom Audi for check over at 11,000 miles and to have rattling door handle fixed and hey presto just had a call to say both fronts are leaking ... one quite badly. Off to France in a week so they have gone away to work out a solution - stick me on the list !!
Anyone know if these guys know their way round an RS ?
DRC / Shock Absorber Issues Log - Please Contribute
In teh end I wrote (and e-mailed) mid June. Had a very quick e-mail response from Jeremy Hicks which led to my getting a 'more appropriate' loan car and the promise of a full response to my queries. It is now three weeks since I left my car with the stealer and I have heard nothing from anybody for two weeks.So how many have sent letters now?

Well, 10 days ago my car was serviced and I asked them to check the shocks due to the handling feeling a bit "loose" - AOK was the verdict.
Yesterday something didn't quite feel right with the car, and at slow speeds there was a very strange sound coming from the NSF. Checked today and it looks like the NSF shock is leaking. Could this have happened in 10 days (and 200 miles) or was the dealer talking bollocks?!
Those with knowledge of this, based on the photo is this going to need replacing ASAP (As Soon As Parts are available
), or will it come under the "minor weep, keep an eye on it" school of thought from the dealer?

Can't be sure but have my suspicions....Could this have happened in 10 days (and 200 miles) or was the dealer talking bollocks?!
Personally I don't have the expertise to give a view based on the photo but if the handling is being affected I don't see how anyone in their right mind would say "minor weep, keep an eye on it". Thing is, the tyres are pretty worn and due for replacement and I suspected that was the cause of the handling changes and increased on-lock noise, which is why I didn't worry too much after the delaer gave the shocks the all-clear. But the noise at least has got much worse over the last few days, strangely from the very moment I picked it up from the dealer on Thursday after having some minor post-service work done. As they'd just done a 25 mile test drive I'd have thought they'd have noticed something wrong themselves, really.
Anyway, I'll be popping down there later with the photograph and see what they think ...

drcarrera - Guildford Audi gave mine the all clear, I was certain it was not correct so took it to a dealership that had real experience with the RS (Camberley). This was out of my way, but it paid off because as it turns out I have both fronts leaking!
In closing, take it to a dealer that has the knowledge to pass judgment on the case, any other will just pass it off as it 'just being you'.

They're going to get it up on the ramps and give it a check tomorrow morning. Service guy didn't seem to think it looked too bad from the photo but was at a loss as to why the technician didn't mention it when they were checked two weeks ago!
This is Newbury, by the way. I may as well give them the chance to sort it out first, seeing as it's five minutes from work, whereas Camberly's over an hour!

just had a call from the stealer - they have the fluid!!
She was explaining why they wouldn't have it done until Thursday because it is apparently a big job - I pointed out that I know all this as it was only done a couple of months ago! Of course, none of this make sme feel much better - what I'm really worried about is the likelyhood of a further recurrence - especially as nobody has yet furnished me with an explanation of why the previous repair lasted just a couple of thousand miles.
Anyway, watch this space.
