It'd take an hour to remove the seat rail covers on a C5. It'd then take 8yrs to return a C5 back to factory from that state...

just had to wait for a few weeks, IIRC, then it would strip itself.

Mine was solid motor, only issues I had were exhaust blow and maf fault. Fit complete stainless steel exhaust including manifold and then had special maf fitted. Full leather seats too, better leather than what was in the s3 and s4.

Popped in to TFS on the way back from chemo bollocks. Ran my idea past them and they thought it was a good idea and if my engine isn't salvageable to get her running and sold on, they can put a standard used STI engine in for a bit over a grand. I would then either have to fork out to revert all the ancillaries to stock and sell on all the custom parts, or pay another £600 or so for a remap. Arse, clutch as well to get rid of that stinking juddery POS IDIOT had fitted..

Talks are progressing with the modded P1 seller and it is sounding like a potentially good buy, despite being an EJ25 short block. Can worry about that after I blow it up :D. The spec of potential car #5 is:

Spec:
ENGINE
STI 2.5 short engine with Manley pistons (15k miles on engine)
STI 5 Ported heads
740 injectors
Billet Fuel rails
Parallel fuel lines
spaced inlet manifold
Fuel pressure regulator
RCM 340 Fuel pump
GT spec headers
Harvey Smith trick up pipe
MD 321T Turbo
ACT lightened flywheel
Uprated clutch (exedy Pink)
Hybrid FMIC
6 Speed gearbox
Forge VTA dump valve
RCM supplied air filter
Simtek ECU with switchable boost 1bar-1.5bar

BRAKE'S + HANDLING + WHEELS
Alcon front brakes with new discs and pads supplied by Alyn at AS Performance
Perrin adjustable front anti roll bar
Whiteline adjustable heavy duty front drop links
Perrin adjustable rear anti roll bar
Perrin adjustable rear lateral links
Brake bias mod
Prodrive OZ 18 inch alloys

INTERIOR
Front Heated windscreen (de-icer/ demister screen)
Defi gauges (Oil Temp, Oil Pressure, Boost)
Full set of Prodrive original car mat's including boot mat
Red stitched leather gear gaiter
Red stitched 6 speed STI gear knob
Interior conditon is excellent no damage or scratches or tears to the seats or door cards, drivers mat is a little worn.

Exterior
Crystal Headlights
Crystal Indicators
Crystal side lights
Driving HID's Spot lights

Security
Clifford 650 concept alarm with proximity sensor turbo timer etc.
Tracker

Taxed May and MOT until November 2013
Full Service History.
4 Wheel alignment recently done to check setup after fitting new ARB's

I genuinely think I can pick her up for about £7.8k, leaving room to tweak.

Sounds like a much better proposition. You need to see it though, and drive it.

WTF am I reading??!?! I can no longer understand what it is you're doing/planning and I'm pretty sure it's not because my Jap car knowledge is rusty. I must reread whole thread.

Dude, I have lost half the plot too but all I know is that I like spending money when I have it and making stupid purchases. Short version, most likely fixing up baby to sell her on for a possible profit and getting a rarer, fully fettled P1 that I won't have to alter much on, which will actually save me thousands in the long run.

Balls, after a marathon email exchange between P1 and me, this is looking like it is going to happen. He is very interested in a part-ex with the Cupra R after I showed him what had been done to her and the dyno charts etc, but I am loathed to sell her due to her being such a chuckable, tyre-destroying hoot. However, a Cupra R+4k cash deal is tempting and would help to keep the amount of cars under control.

Getting more pics this weekend hopefully and he is trying to find out more in-depth things about the engine for me, such as what conrods, uprated head bolts, head gaskets have been used as oddly he doesn't seem to know.....

One good thing is that the Simtek ECU supports live map switching at the flick of a switch. I was half expecting to have to do it with the engine off. Doubt it will ever be on anything other than max power though with me driving.

Weighing up various options currently but the modified P1 is 8k so would be valuing the Cupra at 4k purely if swapping. Prices for well modded Cupra Rs seem to be around 4.5k so after haggling it would be closer to 4k/possibly dead on 4k if I was feeling generous anyway.

3.8k, not that low! I only forked out £350 for a new DAB radio and top of the line aerial last month.

Still going to be damned hard to part with her if I do.

Don't do it! Sentimental value in the R is not accounted for.

Man project, spend the £4k on you old reclaimed car and restore some of her former pride.

4k won't get me anywhere near where she was or where I want her to be. I am looking at over 10k currently, possibly with an additional 2k on top for a 6 speed transmission to take more power. This is despite the fact that the old 5 speed in there was handling well above (492/473) what they all now say they can't handle on those boxes.....

If I get either the modded P1 or go to town on girl, I think the Cupra has to go as it is just me being stupid having 4 cars and madam uses the S3 as her daily drive, despite actually preferring the R. C'est la vie. I have my reservations about the P1 as I don't think that the 2.5 lump has been strengthened enough so I may well actually end up with less power than I want. The guy claims that he is going to come back to me with more info about the engine this week.
