Have this on my 6+, but obviously it doesn't work - I was told that the technology is out of date?? Apparently I need a nokia 6310 and cradle to go in the armrest, which of course they dont make anymore. Is there any system available that works with the MMI?
Any suggestions for a nice wire free phone set up much appreciated.
Martyn you have lots of aerials - perhaps you're the man.

Craigyb is your best bet on here for an update.
I have the same system and got a cradle from Audi a couple of months ago. I did have an old handset available though. I might have another one you could have, I'll have a look at the weekend.
TBO its not great as you need a second SIM and have to redirect your main phone, and remember to switch off the redirect, otherwise you have a nice quiet day in work and hen get back to the car with loads of missed calls.
I am going to update to the newer DVD satnav and OEM bluetooth setup using craigyb.

Thanks guys.
Going to go the GSM 1 route. I would ideally like a cradle for Sony Ericsson, currently using a K750i but I have a T610 still in a box somewhere. Anyone know for definate if a cradle is available for either of these? If I go the 'different phone in the car and swap sim card' route, then perhaps either of you could sell me a 6310 and cradle?
Whats a 'nominal fee' these days?
PS shimmy any reason for changing cradles? Is one set up better than another?

never really tried the 6310 as my phone was the 6230i so cannot comment in an educated manner. However all it gives you with both is a link to power for charging and to the mic and speaker and also to the radio mute. It is not really interactive with the system other than that.
The upgraded II system seems to be much more like the BMW one which i am used to and allows you to use the screen and controls rather than the phone keypad. Unfortunately no steering wheel controls whicb drives me mad.
If i had my time again i would have gone straight to the upgraded system with bluetooth.

Hi Bob
Lots of aerials but not connected to the phone! I bought a 6310i and had it on another number that my mobile diverted to when I was in the car (my Orange to Orange calls are free with our deal otherwise you pay for the divert) but it is a rubish arrangement with no interaction with the car apart from mute. When I changed my mobile phone to a Nokia N70 I ditched the lot and went Bluetooth with a Nokia kit. Still no real integration withe car but it works and the voice dial on the phone is real good.
Still what do you expect with a cheap car eh?!
Cheers, MartynC

Have you thought about using an aftermarket phone system. I had a Parrot CK3300 (bluetooth telephone & GPS) installed on my last car which worked very well.
Take a look at the website ...
Parrot

OK, so if I want the integrated option I need the GSM II?
Is this something that a dealership will do, and anyone know how much?
Looked at Parrot, and may well look into it as an alternative, but I somehow feel I should have the proper set up in such a car....

Bob
I looked at a converter cradle that enables use of "pop-port" Nokias with 6310 cradle (CARK-91). Unfortnately, because Audi armrest one is not NOKIA OE the converter is too big so no solution yet other than divert like Martyn suggests. I'm just amazed that given the population of Nokia 6210s and 6310 wanting upgrade to newer Bluetooth models, no-one has seen fit to produce a Bluetooth receiver/converter that pops onto the existing cradle! Maybe that's too logical.
I know you can get free refurbed 6310i on a new contract if you search on carphonewarehouse.com If you get really stuck, pm me as I've got a bank of them (hard for my wife to lose such a bulky phone in her handbag) as we have 6310 cradles in both VAG cars.
Bad luck with the stone chip by the way. I got mine within the first 300 miles the first day I drove it - then went on to drive another 300 (big grin).

Thanks again, shimmy is kindly sending me the bits. What's "pop port" out of interest?

Just a different type of connector to the one that's on the older models.
