Looking at some B9.5 Any Advice appreciated

Post by E10EAN » Tue Dec 12, 2023 10:50 pm

Hi

Been a long time and finally I’m ready to get a RS4 Avant.

I’m visiting to Hatfield Audi Friday to look at this and does anyone know the car ?

Also what do I need to lol out for.

Thanks

A few things I'd be looking for would be the specific options (learn them and know which you want and which you aren't fussed about), quality of the soft bits inside, and any wear and tear vs the mileage, drive it and listen for any strange engine or suspension sounds (especially if it has DRC), listen for any rattles or creaks from inside or out.

Also the next time I'm buying a car, I'll see if I can take it round to a local body Shop I've been using and trust, and have them use their eagle eyes to look for subtle evidence of repairs that I'd miss myself. Less of a concern if you're buying from Audi and can get them to include extended warranty.

I've been through this and I'd definitely look for any unusual rattles and creaks from around wheel arches.
When you detect something, there could be issues with dampers and/or arm bushings.

Also, check that nothing is stored underneath the boot tray (where the battery sits) before taking the car out for a ride, and see if you can hear anything from around there as the dampers move, like something is not tied down properly and rattling in there.
DRC valves might be shot if this is the case.

Not very good and so disappointing I had the reg of the car done some internet checks and went to a few shows and MOT Rusty rear spring and drivers front tyre nail in, before I went I was assured all alloys was refurbished.

After 2:30 hours to get there it was a shed front passenger’s alloy bashed and the rear paint work in the wing poor repair, door trim hanging off on drivers side and the drive felt like the engine mounts had gone.

I looked at a black one today with 16k the radiator looked battered for the mileage checked on line EF 20 PPK it’s been sold by one trade and done 250 miles in 6 months for £58k.

TBH this is a lot of money sadly this is really putting me off.

Appreciate advice and DRC definitely not a option 👍

This would be really disappointing, I have found the same in my quest for an RS4 so far. Seeing cars classed or described as exceptional or mint.. get there and car with 30k miles is like a dogs dinner…

That one had been on a good while and reduced a good few times before it sold. It was just outside my budget so didn’t view it or anything.

TBH I was very nervous HPI showed it was on PCP and VW have conformed it clear, found marks and little dent in the drivers door which is been sorted.

1 owner 19k radiator is mint paintwork all original and very happy.
