Differing specs for UK press cars?

Post by Simon82 » Mon Mar 08, 2021 4:53 pm

Hello all, Considering upgrading my RS4 to a C8 RS6 however notice on some of the video reviews the cars(which are right hand drive) are sporting the "premium" B&O upgraded speakers. These have the metal look speaker grilles and tweeters which rise out of the dash however you can't seem to spec this option for any of the UK models currently available or am I missing something?
Same goes for the carbon ceramic brakes. Configurator only allows grey callipers yet a lot of the press cars have the red callipers for the carbon ceramics.

Can the above options be specced through the exclusive options or were these just fitted to the press cars?

Press cars were early production and not of U.K. spec hence the mish mash.

My 2020 RS6 C8 Vorsprung doesn’t seem to have a heated steering wheel. It’s a 2021 model car. My mate just bought a new RS6 C8 beginning of this year and his car does. Is the switch hidden or did some earlier cars not come with this option?

Same here. Also the auto parking is not available for the first models in the country. I wonder why Audi did that.

I've just had a quick play on the configurator for the Vorsprung, mine like Jezzers is a 21 model year and arrived October last year. It does look like heating has been added for the stearing wheel this year, but parking assist with parking aid plus (code PCV) is still present, so should be present on new Vorsprung models purchased this year.

Heated steering wheel became standard on cars built from around October/November 2020 onwards. I was told it has something to do with Audi needing to revise a lot of their steering wheels due to the fact they didn’t have any sensors to detect if you had let go of the steering while driving with ACC and lane assist or something like that. That’s why a lot of the RS models now don’t come with a flat bottom steering wheel (RS4, RS5 etc).

So Audi UK will not offer flat bottom steering wheels anymore?

On RS models only RS6, RS7 & RS E TRON Gt have a flat bottom steering wheel now as standard whether you have selected the tour pack or not (I think). TTRS has one but you can’t spec ACC so it never changes either. RSQ3 is flat bottom with the exception of the Vorsprung models which is now round (as it has drivers assistance pack as standard) but on other RSQ3 models if you select the drivers assistance pack it will change to round. RSQ8, RS4 & RS5 its round only no matter what model you choose. You can still get them on lower models but if you spec tour/driver assistance packs with ACC then it changes to a round wheel. Like I said, it all changed around October/November 2020.
